Lvt help

hey guys

I’m looking to build italeris 1/35 lvt a-4 kit and was wondering if you guys could help by telling me how to detail the turret interior and possibly post some photos to help Me to detail the kit?

Kind regards

Look for photos of the M8 HMC turret interior to get info. And perhaps Prime Portal has photos on the drivers compartment interior.

Verlinden did a detail set for the interior, which also included the turret. Since they went out of business, it might be hard to find, but still be available.

Trakz also did a resin/PE set that included a replacement turret.

I’ll be doing the same model soon. My thread asking for help is on pg. 3 of armor forum. Lot’s of info. if you are looking for AM stuff…goodluck. I am going to try and scratch build as much as I can. I have an Academy M3 which I am going to try and copy the turret.

Volume one of these books has interior turret pictures and describes detailing the kit.

I can recommend the books referred-to above. I have both volumes and the associated scale plans pack. I believe I got them on eBay.

They pre-date the Italeri kit and use the Trakz (A)4 conversion for the (A)1. But the detail photos of the real thing, inside and out, are useful nonetheless. I have the Verlinden interior set too, but not having built it yet I can’t comment on the accuracy.

All of these are very hard to find now, unfortunately. The books were written by David E Harper and published by Letterman Publications in 2003. There are no ISBNs on them. The Amtank volume’s catalogue number is LP008.

I’ve been meaning to get the Squadron Signal book on LVT’s but haven’t yet. I do have the Osprey New Vanguard Amtracs book, and that’s no help. It has only a very basic semi-cutaway of the (A)4 interior.

no help on the turret BUT you might want to cut off the pin holding the sprocket to the hull and epoxy some brass rod tin order to more securely mount it. the tracks are real tight and i have sheared off the pin just getting the track on.
