Hi all!
Have anyone tried to buy from www.luckymodel.com?
I’m new to this site and I dont think it has the reputation like squadron, vls, hannants, hlj etc. so I dont know if it will be wise buying from them. Are they real? [}:)]same question goes for www.ent-mart.com
I’d really appriciate comments. thank’s alot! [:D]
P.S.
I’m not sure this is the right place to discuss this here, I’m new to this site. is there somewhere else around here to talk about this?
It looks like a good site (www.luckymodel.com). ie nice large pictures etc…
try buying something small. use a credit card so you can dispute the charges if they don’t deliver…
their selection of 1/32 ww2 models is good. and the prices seem about right to me. I’m bookmarking the link and If I order from them soon I post another reply…
good luck,
chrisj
Hmmm looks ok to me…lil cheasy on the layout compared to some other storefront sites I have seen, but hey I cant talk you should see my sites. ROFL
I too bookmarked it and will go back and take a better look later.

I have heard of entmart.com and apparently they are very much on the up and up, haven’t heard of this other place yet though.
Just took a glance at Luckymodels … if you order from them, remember that they are shipping it from Hong Kong. Shipping will probably cost more than the model itself.
Just what Robert said above. I just got done taking a rea good in-depth look…and while they were cheaper on most kits…the shipping time/price was nuts.
I looked mainly at the new Trumpeter 1/24 North American P-51D Mustang Fighter.
At my LHS its $124.99(+7.5%tax)=$134.36 I walk out the door with it right away.
At Hometownhobbies.com its $98.36($6.00 shipping)=$104.36 I have to wait 3-7 days.
At Luckymodel.com it was $63.99($22.36 shipping surface only)=$86.35 and I get to wait 1-2 months!!! But hey for$31.42 shipping I could have it in 7-11 business days! That would mean the model actually costs $95.41Which is still cheaper than the above options. Hey but with speed post which is 1-3 business days the Model would still only be $103.78…
Thats 58cents cheaper than Hometown…and $30.58 cheaper than my LHS…But Ive never dealt with this company nor know of anyone who has…Sorry dont mean to sound like a smart @$$ but I think I’ll waste the 58 cents or the $30.58 and order from a reliable source.
Just my opinion…
Chris
Hi there shermanfreak!
This is a quick reply from ShModeler
If you’ll take a good look at the shipping charges for surface (1-2 month) you’ll be amazed!
for instance the trumpeter Leopold costs 85$ and shipping for the US cost another 35$ or so, total cost of 120$ !!! is it really that bad for waiting a month or two? (or is it bad for the model?!)
From HLJ shipping costs same price as the kit so I dont know what to do… any thoughts?
Here’s the reason for the cheap price, but expensive shipping and long ship time:

There in Hong Kong. Nothing wrong with that as a rule (I bought one from a HK company on e-bay once), but shipping is pricey and erattic.
Chrisj has the right idea…by using a credit card.
I’ve got a credit card that I got specifically for buying things on the internet. It’s got a credit limit of $200 on it, so I won’t end up with some scumbag buying a $5000, 67 inch, flat screen plasma TV with it (plus the surround sound system).
Caveat Emptor as they say, let the buyer beware

I have seen many posts on this site bemoaning the loss of the LHS; if you have the option (and I realize you may not), I say support them. The little extra in costs could come back in spades if you need advice/service/special order, etc.
