Lost in Translation

this actually came up at my club’s meeting this past Monday. has anybody read the little info note on the side of the new Trumpeter KV-2? Kinda hard to find the words to say about it, and apparently, thats just what happened to whoever was translating it. i mean com’on, you could never do anything like that on purpose and be as funny!!

Dont have the kit .So what does it say ?
CFR

I have the kit. The brief description of the KV-2 on the side of the box has been written with wrong grammar and poor choice of words. Obviously, it was not properly proof read or edited by somebody who knows the English language too well.

Has anyone here ever built a “Science Treasury” kit? (Chinese copies of the Hasegawa 1/72 military kits).

The translations in the instructions for these kits have to be seen to be believed.

I’ve got it. I’ll post it tonight when I get home. The translations for the KV2 and the KV1 (well, the one I’ve got) are hilarious.

Have a look at these… on the Trumpeter website - read the scrolling blurbs.

Russia KV-1 model 1942 Simplified Turret Tank http://www.trumpeter-china.com/war513/products/en_message.asp?id=280
KV-1 model 1942 Heavy Cast Turret Tank http://www.trumpeter-china.com/war513/products/en_message.asp?id=289
KV-2 http://www.trumpeter-china.com/war513/products/en_message.asp?id=279

From the Trumpeter site:

I purchased mine on eBay and thought that this mangled translation was the work of the eBayer, not Trumpeter. I particularly liked the fact that it included “virtuous soldiers” with “thermodynamic power inhibit” One of the guys here at work pointed out that this was probably supposed to be something like “providing suppressing fire for front-line soldiers”

Kit is nice, though.

hahah good to see that my trumpeter Hotchkiss isn’t the only box with poor grammar!

lol, too funny. Most of the Trumpeter translations are of this manner [:D]
“Me fail English, that’s unpossible”

I like the way the KV-1 description referred to the main gun shells as “firecrackers”!

I’m guessing that “quick-fried” is a mistranslation of “welded”.

LOL! Ha, ha, ha, ha.
Stop mocking trumpeter or I’ll “quick-fry” your head! [:o)]

Many of the mainland chinese manufacturers seems to have the same problem, they just put the stuff through one of those web-translators. You think they can hire some student studying english to proof-read their stuff.

Ha Ha thats great. I needed a laugh today.

Some Tamiyas older kits have some bad translation going on but not quite this awful. I have an old Tam T-34/76 kit that describes the “happy developments” of the T-34 series.

Thanks for sharing.[:D]

Let’s give the Japanese manufacturers some credit here.
There has never been anything from Japan quite as ridiculous as what has been printed recently on those Trump kits!
Some pretty sloppy translations from Hasegawa and Tamiya in the past, to be sure…but nothing like Trumpeter!

ROFLMAO… Thats great…!!![:p][:p][;)] Well at least for the a/c kits, I thought that they were getting better… guess again…
So Matt, how are the meeting going these days??? Going to the Pa show tomorrow??
Flaps up, Mike

Mmmm, quick-fried turret. Delicious with a side of fries and a coke.

Brian-I agree-in the past I have been mildly amused by Tamiya and Hasegawa’s instructions and histories-but these Trumpeter translations are incomprehensible.

thats too funny, prolly a bunch of chinese potheads sitting around making this stuff up just to mess with us heh

the real work with that is trying to figure out what they actually meant. i think drawde’s description of ‘quick-fried’ makes the most sense here, but as for the rest, it might as well have been in Greek.

Hey, nice to hear from ya Butz! been a while i know. meetings are ok. fewer people than when you were coming. probably from the high price things have been getting lately ( i.e. gas, jsut to name one). still theres always about 30-40 guys there. you should come in, atleast see everybody again.

not goin to make it to svascon or whatever its called. i got a x-country meet in the morning and stuff later on. i will be at syrcon, and im not sure but i might also head for cleveland. you build anything lately?

Jeez, THAT is too much[8-], I would like to know where in the heck they even found these words![(-D] If It were me, I would have left it Chinese, I could at least use the Chinese/English dictionary.
