Have used cheap airbrushs when i was younger. Now that I’m getting back in to modelling looking for a good mid price range airbrush.
looking for suggestions.
Buy a good one now and only spend money once. That’s how to save money. I just bought an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS ($85-$90 from Dixie Art or Bear Air) and I’ve kicked myself for buying the other 5 brushes.
The price range I had in mind was $80 to $120
I know that not all agree on what makes a good airbrush but my butt hurts from kicking myself for not going with the iwata first. Easy to use, clean and great results. I can’t say that about any other one I’ve owned. Badger 350, Paschee H, Aztek, Pashee VL, Badger 100LG and Sotar 20/20. For model enamels you can’t go wrong with the Eclipse HP-CS. (disclaimer: just my opinion. But a strong one.)
I second the Eclipse CS, great all around double action brush. I had a aztec a470 before it and it was nothing but trouble. The badger 200 is a decent single action brush as well

I’ll 2nd that!
I now have an Iwata as well. Mine’s the Eclipse HP-BS($89.95 delivered from DixieArt) and find it has great performance and easier to clean up than any of the others I’ve owned including the Aztek when you consider that the only way to really get those things clean is to disassemble the nozzles (which they tell you not to do)
There are several others in this price range that many people swear by as well. Just read back on the previous airbrush topics.
What are the feeling on the vega 2000
i just bought a vega 2000 new in the box and jus got it a fw days ago and sprays perfect for modeling and it was only 86$. But i heard the 360 was realygood check out badger-airbrushes.com they have a chart with all there airbrushes.
Schlotfj - I looked to buying my new airbrush with a cost no option (within reason) point of view, expecting to pay on the order of $150 +/-, thinking that it would require that much to ge the best. Believe me, after much mind juggling. I got the HP-CS for $90 from Dixiearrt, and IMHO there is no better, at least for me (and I’m pretty darn particular about my tools). I still use a Badger 200 for general purpose spraying, but I am leaning more and more to using the Iwata for ALL purposes.
I can’t say enough nice things about www.dixieart.com . Great, helpful people. Will always go to them for my airbrush needs. (And no, I don’t work for them). Good luck with your hunt. Stinger
The Vega 2000 is a fine airbrush and sprays very similar to the Omni and Anthem.
