Looking for WW1 aircraft paint scheme

Wasn’t there a plane in WW1 whose paint scheme was mainly purple, but with some yellows as well? It was a really outlandish scheme I saw somewhere, I thought it was German, but perhaps I was wrong.

In any case, any sites out there where I can find paint schemes of WW1 planes?

Roden, Eduard, and Gavia make WWI kits as well as Blue Max. Give them a looksee.

There are two trains of thought here;

If your talking real WWI aircraft then it would be post summer 1917 Albatros D.III ( OAW built ) and some (about half) Albatros D.V & Va types. The two toned painted wing camouflage of these birds had dk green and mauve (pinkish purple) on the upper surfaces and varnished fuselages (warm light yellows.) The others had the 5 colour lozenge printed camouflage.

If your talking a modern replica…there was a Siemens Schuckert D.III at Guntersville Alabama in 1992 -1994. It was purple overall with yellow accents and I believe a yellow ta and purple tail unit. (Yellow lion’s head on the fuselage side by cockpit.)

Since you can’t be more specific…thats all I can offer.

It was during ww1, and I thought it was a german plane with crazy paints. I’ll look into those you listed.

I have the box of an Eduard Albatros D.Va 1/72 here in front of me - it has the color scheme StephenLawson described. The instructions say violet / green for the wing camouflage, wood brown for the fuselage.

There have recently been available thru mail order direct sales here in the United States from a fellow Hobby Model enthusisit who has become their US Distributor in order that they would be readliy available to Hobby builders here in the US.
