I apologize if this is not the right place for this query, but not sure where I should ask.
Recently I was given an old AMT model that had been started many years ago, and my buddy would like me to finish it for him. The problem is that the interior ‘tub’ is missing. The modle is an AMT Corvair Monza, 1/25 scale, not sure of the actual year. The number on the box is T 374-225. Does anyone know where I might be able to find one? Is AMT still in existence?
AMT is long gone as a company. A couple of years ago there was a company called Round2 that reproduced quite a range of kits originally produced by AMT, Lindbergh and others.
I think that they no longer sell kits, although their website seems to be alive. I would check that out.
Your kit is available on eBay, at collector prices.
Try eBay and sort by price. Sometimes you can find kit parts for sale. It looks like they have a tub for an AMT Monza kit right now, though I’m not sure if it is for your specific kit.
If it is between 65 and 69 you can still find them and not necessarily pay an arm or leg. If it’s the old "Craftsman " series( either 1961-2 two door Coupe or Flattop four door, Not happening at any reasonable price!)
I saw a 65 at my local Hobby Lobby last week. They’re out there, just showing up in spurts!
Welcome. Another tactic I use is to buy the second kit and take the part you need for the first project.
Then figure out a work around to get the second kit built.
This could range from making a new part, to building the second car with tinted windows and the doors shut, just the minimum “tub” to hold the whole thing together.
Hi Did you find the interior tub, I have the kit AMT 894/12 Round 2 LLCIt been stsrted The Interior tub has black carpeting ( It’s like a felt powder you glue on)
Mine is missing quite a few parts, so It will never get finished.
