looking for some kits

I was recently surfing missing lynx, and came accross some very nice models, two of which I would love to build. All were in 1/35 scale.
First, where can I find an M4 High Speed Tractor, and second, where can I find a ZSU 23-4 Shilka.
Thanks!

M4 High Speed Tractor was made by BlueModel and Peerless and I believe, is long out of production. You can probably still find it on E-Bay or at a hobby shop that specializes in old kits. The ZSU is made by DML and should be available. Try an on-line supplier such as Great Models, Squadron, or one of the others.

Thanks. Is there something I could use instead of the M4 tractor that would have been used in pulling the 155mm Long Tom piece of artillery?

Good luck in your search zokissima. I would not mind finding a M4 high speed tractor myself.

Actually the prime mover for a Long Tom 155mm was the Mack NO 7 ton truck, as seen below:

And a model of one:

The only model available of it is a very expensive resin one by ADV, about $125.00.

Italeri and Dragon do a Shilka (both the same kits just different marks)
heres one i made ealier[:D]

and you could get your self a AFV Club M35 Prime Mover to tow your long tom

I’m watching a ZSU 23-4 on ebay right now. It’s the Dragon kit. I’m no help with the prime mover, sorry.

Just a heads up on the M4 Tractor … it’s a dog. If you get one, make sure that you spare parts box is very loaded up, you’ll be needing it.

Though it is not the correct piece for pulling the Lomg Tom, AFV Club has the M35 tractor, it needs a little conversion work too though.

Thanks for all the help everyone!
I’ve always loved Soviet armour, and the Shilka just looks evil [}:)]

I only saw one finished Long Tom, but the kit looked very nice and intriguing.
Anyone built one?

Revell reboxed the Nitto M4 back in the early 1980s. While the box listed the kit as 1/40 scale,it is in fact 1/35. I agree that the kit needs some updating, fortunately, it shares some running gear with the M5 Stuart light tank. There are several track and suspension sets available to upgrade M3/5/8 kits so these will help you in upgrading the M4 HST.

Wow! Jon, quite a job! Who makes that kit?? [:-^] [swg] [D)]

Great job on the figures, too!

Good point, Brian. I totally forgot to mention how lifelike they look. Especially nice job on the skin tone and eyes!

Looks like it has enough space to drop a full engine and interior detailing as well [:D]

I’ll bet the PE set for that thing was a bear! And those resin pieces must have cost an arm and a leg!! LOL Jon, are those Friul tracks or did you go with the kit links??

Bill

I built this kit when it first came out. Very nice detail on it, some of the parts are a little fidgety but otherwise a great kit.

its a good build but moving it about is a bit of a pain[:O]

Robert is that the AFV kit? I got one a couple of months back, but haven’t started it yet.

Dan

Not to speak for Robert, but it should be, as I’m not aware of anyone else releasing a 1/35 long tom
