So a couple of questions for everyone, what color is the interior of the Abrams, and dose anyone have any pitchures of the inside of the Abrams? Someone gave me a link for it, but it’s not working, so i can view the page, so if anyone can help me out here, i would appreite it very much. Also is their a kit out their that lets you do the inside to show the main gun in all of its detile, that would be very cool if their was one. well, if anyone can find one, then let me know about it. Have fun, and Happy Fathers Day to All
The interior color is overall semi-gloss white. Here is the link to Tanxheaven. Lots if pics of Abrams, and you will see a tab for Interior. http://tanxheaven.com/m1a1/m1a1rob.htm
Here is a link to Olivier Carneau’s site with a USMC M1A1HC that he put a full interior in, lots of in-progress pics. http://olivier.carneau.free.fr/gb_version/etatsunis_gb.htm#m1a1hc
The best kit to start with is one of the Dragon kits. They all include a partial turret interior and a driver’s station. Eduard also does an M1A1 interior set, and I think Verlinden may as well.
I too am in the process of building a USMC M1A1HC with full turret and driver’s interiors in it. I used the above sites as my referances as well. Unfortunately, I closed the turret up before taking any pics of it. Mine is going to be Angry American from 1st Marine Tank Bn in OIF 1 using the Echelon decals on it.
Good luck on yours.

Very cool, you’ll have to send me pitchurs, and what decals are the Echelon any way? I would like more opptions for the markings.
Echelon sells two sets for USMC in OIF. One is for sand tanks, the other for camo and green tanks. They also do three sets for 3ID tanks as well.

Their decals are great and cost about $14 a pack. Each one will do 6-7 tanks and their later 3ID sets also come with decals for figures as well. I have both USMC sets and highly recommend them. They are quite comprehensive. Most on-line hobby stores carry them. I got mine through Great Models Webstore at http://www.greatmodels.com
Thanks, that really helps out a ton, do you know if their was ever a tank called THE REBELS I saw some decals for it once. Also what would I use to inclose the back wall for the drivers compartment, just put up a sheat of plastic for it? Have a good day, and you’ll have to let me know how yours works out, I’m sure it will be better then mine, sinces I have not been doing this for years like yourself.
I have never seen a tank named The Rebels, doesn’t mean none were/are named that, I just haven’t seen it. The back of the driver’s compartment does not have a wall. It is open and when the turret is turned to either side at about a 45 degree angle, the driver has access to the turret by lowering his seat back and climbing through.
That’s way cool, dose anyone hae pitchers of this opening, I’d sure like to see it for me self, is this door incase of emergancys so that he can get out, or is it just becasus he needs another door or something like that. Again, tanks for the info on that, but if you have any pics, i would love to see them.
One more question, would you use super glue on both resin and Photo-Etched parts, and is thier a faster way to remove the Leftover plastic on the resin parts, other then scrpaing it off, my hands are getting carved up doing it?
Super glue is the best glue for resin and PE parts. It bonds quickly and solidly. If you need a little more play time, you can also try epoxy. It can be fast setting in about 5 minutes or really slow setting and take hours. I prefer superglue though.
To remove the resin pour plugs, your best bet is to get a razor saw. It is a small hobby saw with a thin blade. It is the only reasonable way to remove all the waste resin.
Also, there is no door between the driver’s area and the turret, just a passageway. It is an emergency/secondary exit. When the turret is at the 45 degree positions to either front side, the driver’s hatch can not be opened due to the turret overhang. If the turret were to get stuck in this position, the driver would be trapped.
In the below pictures, the mesh behind the seat is the lower turret basket side mesh.
Behing the seat you can see the curved turret basket again.
Hope that clears it up.
