Allen109,

If you are not in a hurry I think I have one that is complete in the box. The cost would be VERY reasonable plus shipping cost. I have been getting rid of my 1/72nd and 1/32nd scale kits to concentrate on 1/48th scale. I do not want to go the e-bay route, and in fact I have been giving the kits to organizations like the Cub Scouts.

I’ll make sure my e-mail address is in the “profile”, or whatever, so that you can let me know if you are interested. I do not want to abuse this forum and use it for personal sales, but if I can help you acquire an out of production kit that I will never get to build, and recover my costs, I would be happy to do it.

I am not a kit collector and every kit I ever purchased I intended to build. I finally came to grips with the fact that I cannot possibly build all the kits I have accumulated over the last 30 years. Reality is a bear! I wonder how many of us are in the same boat?

So, why not list the kits you want to get rid of and see what happens? There are plenty of us out here that are always looking for a old kit![2c]

How does this kit compare to the old Hawk/Testors 1/32 Lysander, or are they the same? As I recall, this was not a bad kit at all for its age, and I owned it until, well, no so vey long ago. I was just another one of those kits in the back of the closet(s) of models that you forget about over the years, never remembering why you got it in the first place. Now, though, I would love to find a good 1/48 Lysander. Does anyone know if this kit is available and if so, from whom?
TOM

The best 1/48 Lysander is from Gavia, part of the Eduard group.

The Hawk kit, which was later reproduced by Testors, is a 1/48th scale kit.
As for listing the kits on this forum, wouldn’t that be a bit tacky? Secondly, giving up any of the kits is like pulling teeth. I get attached to them. Crazy, huh?

Seriously. as I sort through what I want and what I will dispose of I will consider making a list available to this forum members as long as it can be done without “commercializing” this forum.

Giving up these kits will be much easier if I know they are going to a good home. Good grief, I can’t believe I just said that. Is it just me, or are there others out there with the same obsession with this hobby?

There is one consolation, that is, thank goodness I’m not into model rail roading! rangerj

I really agree on the sentimental value of some kits.I recently gave away a
Hase 1/72 F-16D “Brakeet” to a friend who wanted it bad, on condition he
doesn’t sell it .
It was tough but he is a good friend and I still have 1 more for me to build.

I would think it to be rather inappropriate to have a list of kits for sale on the forum itself. I would like to see a central point of reference for those wanting to get rid of “excess” kits, then go to private email for listings and transactions. I have about 200 kits in the closet. Even at one per month, which isn’t nearly long enough, that is something like 16 years to get everything built. And that is not even considering the attic full of RC kits I had/have plans to build. Just to set some expectations. A lot of these sites that claim to have “out-of-production / hard-to-find” kits may not actually have them. I have three 6-month-plus outstanding orders with some of these sites for planes they still claim available via special order, etc. One sales representative at one of these sites openly admitted they will look for it on eBay or other auction sites then mark it up. Simple business model.

eBay’s your best bet. You may be bidding against some of these “OOP/HTF kit” websites.

Thanks guys. My grandfather wants another copy of the kit because he wants another crack at it. During the construction of the canopy/cockpit framing the entire structure collapsed. He tried two more times and then he threw it against the wall. He came up with several ideas too late, his skills have improved greatly since, and he wants to try again. As far as we both know, that’s the only 1/32 Lysander available.
