Hi guys… I have my Luftwaffe German MiG-29UB sitting up above my computer on display, and I have decided to ad a German marked Typhoon to go with it…
I have purchased the Italeri kit, and was interested in anyone that has built it, and information that may be handy… The MiG-29 was the Academy kit, and didnt come with pilots… Does the Italeri kit supply such things?
Chris
No, the Italeri Typhoon doesn’t come with pilots, most Italeri kits don’t seen to.
My only real issue with the Italeri Typhoon is that the intake and landing gears take a bit of care and forthought to get right; other than that, its a fairly straight ahead build.
Thanks for the info… So I guess that brings me to my next question… Does anyone have 2, maybe 4 1/48 pilots that they are willing to give up?
Cheers,
Chris
In reference to pilots…I may. What poses? Seated or standing?
Also, do you know ANYONE who has a MiG-23 in 1/48th, who’d be willing to sell or trade?

I built the two seater, still have another on the pile to do sometime.
I’ll agree with Upnorth, take care with the intake, I built mine ‘in flight’ so didn’t use the gear, it’s on a perspex rod which goes into a block of wood.
I used pilot figures from the Airfix Hawk, & dressed up the cockpit a bit.
I too am after more 1/48th (seated) pilot figures, I’d appreciate an email, if anyone can help.
All the best
Pete
Hi Chris,
I’ve built it. Some fit problems with the large ventral intake to fuselage junction. Had to use filler and coarse sandpaper. Otherwise, no other fit problems.
Although in 1/48th, detail is not as fine as the 1/72 Revell two seater- superb kit. Still, when finished, and in the three color RAF demonstrator, the Italeri rendering is a fine looking kit. I also have the Revell boxing of it. My advice is get the Revell version. Seems to represent one of the Luftwaffe demonstrators, the RAF demo, and a Luftwaffe service a.c.
There is no photo etch or pilot with this kit. I’d give it a 3.5 out of 5, for building, but a 5 out of 5 for “coolness.”
Good luck with it.
Karl
Thanks for the replies…
Karl, I have actually already purchased the Italeri kit, so I will go with that one… Does the Italeri kit offer you the markings to do an operational Luftwaffe scheme? Or just the Revell kit?
Cheers
Chris
As I recall, the Italeri issue of the kit contained only demonstrator aircraft schemes, nothing operational.
Well I usually build Hasegawa kits… But I am getting a little tired of them being way over priced, and I am in Japan!. So I have started looking at other brands… Problem is, atleast Hasegawa give you decent marking and even pilots?.. I never put any arms on my display models, so I dont mind about the lack of ordinance… So I guess its into the spare decal box to for this Italeri model…By the way, thanks for the info!
ps: still looking for 4 sitting pilots!
Cheers,
Chris
