Looking for F-4 Phantom w/ Suu-23 gun pod profiles

I’m looking for some F-4 Phantom profiles, specially if the Phantom in the profile has attached the belly-mounted SUU-23 gun pod. Thanks a lot in advance. Best regards.

something like this?

F-4D 34th TFS

Look carefully at the AIM-9s, they’re different models.

F-4E 34th TFS

F-4D 8th TFW

F-4 USMA 333 (trip-trei)

Unkown unit/type. Spider on white tail band, 1974.

RF-4C 15th TRS, 18th TFW

CHAFF Bomber:

You didn’t mention a scale, but Hasegawa has the gun pod in one of their Weapons Sets in 1/48. I seem to remember seeing some pictures in Squdon Signal’s books, probably on the F-4. I’ll check my Detail & Scale and see it there are any pictures in the F-4 books on the gun pod.

Thanks a lot for the pics, they will help for sure. I’m just planning a future project, I haven’t decided the scale yet. Best regards.

According to FSM (“History You Can Model–‘Chico the Gunfighter’” Nov. 2004), you can get the SUU-23 pods from:

1/32 from CUstom Aeronautical Miniatures

1/48 Hasegawa Weapons Set C

1/72 Hasegawa Weapons Set 2

The Revell 1/48 F-4C comes with the SUU-23 pod as well. I know that there are a few profiles in the Osprey Air Force F-4 Mig Killers 1965-1968 with the gunpod. As well as a list of F-4(mostly C’s and D’s at that time) kills with both missiles and guns. You might want to research the particular plane you plan on modeling and determine if it used the SUU-16/A or the SUU-23/A pod.

That Marines Phantom is an F-4S with VMFA-333 Shamrocks which was deployed aboard the USS America at that time. The Hasegawa 1/48 Weapons Set C comes with the SUU gun pods for the F-4 Phantom.

When the SUU-23A was loaded on the centerline of the F-4 the short pylon was used. Do not use the long pylon. It was mounted directly to the centerline rack with the gun pod mounted to the pylon. The gun pod used the aft mounting lugs so the rear of the pod would clear the ground on aircraft rotation. The gun pod that comes with the Monogram/Revell kits are SUU-16A/A pods and are not very accurate. The Hasagawa weapons kit pods are very accurate and are SUU-23A gun pods.
