Ok so heres the scoop, My dad was in germany in the 1980s, and he was the commander of an M110A Self Propelled Howitzer, you know the eight inch gun, and thought it would be cool to track a kit down of one and give it to him for his birthday, Could you guys find who makes it because i know there is a model of one i just dont know who makes it?
Italeri does one in 1/35
ok thanks stik
Italeri makes several versions of the M110, including the M110A1 and M110A2. Revell of Germany also reboxes the Italeri M110A2 kit but they have replaced the standard M110 style track with the German Diehl style tracks.
Just so ya know, the “commander” of a gun section (crew) is refered to as the “Section Chief”… It’s the equivelant of a “Squad Leader” in an infantry platoon.
I didn’t have any real experience with the M110 (I was on M019s) but I recall vidvidly that it’s probably the most miserable POS to drive if you’re anywhere near 6 feet tall… The driver’s hole is exactly that… A steel hole that has NO legroom whatsoever…
I loved the M109 though… Especially when it was cold or raining… It’s the only gun with a roof, lol…
Italeri is the company. They are OOP but on ebay often
If he was in Germany in the mid 1980s the kit you want is M110A2 (A1 only was in service a short period).
You can also find a metal barrel for it at the barrel store.
Loved the real m110A2 and the kit is good too.
Rounds Complete!!
I drove the M110’s as well as the M107’s quite a lot back in 1967. The M107 bounched so much that you wanted to puke, but the short barreled M110 actually drove pretty good. I hated the M109 as well as the M108.
