Hi Guys! [:)] I’m looking for a Sheman with the HVSS Suspension and haven’t heard of one that doesn’t come without alot of building headaches. I’m only and average modeler and not real good at fixing mistakes or doing major surgery. Can anyone please set me onto one that’s still available or one that they have heard is coming out in the future?
Thanks
Charlie
AFV Club makes a set of separate HVSS tracks and an old company called MP used to do one as well in the early-mid 90s. DML’s HVSS are a bit of a headache. If you can find the old MP ones, they were a little heavy handed, but not bad at all. I see them as old store stock for around $5-8.
I do not know the quality of AFV Club’s but they tend to do nice track/suspension sets.
I bet the best overall complete Sherman kit with HVSS would probably be the Academy Israeli Sherman kit (for builbability).
Major Rob has already mentioned the good points and bad points of the Academy and DML kits. Unless you want to do some cross-kitting, they’re about the best you’ll get in one box.
Dragon has just announced that they are doing a re-release of their M4A3 E8. If it’s been retooled it might be a little easier to work with, but no confirmed date yet.
Hi Guys - Thanks for all the good information. I have lots of models downstairs that I haven’t built yet so I can wait for something in the future. I checked out the AFV suspension article - looks like a possibility as well.
Thanks Again
Charlie
Good luck in your search for the Sherman with the HVSS Suspension, also Welcome to the Armor forum.

Hi guys:
I found the Dragon M4A3 HVSS POA-CWS-H5 kit at a garage sale but the track links are crazy to build - 5 pieces per set. I’ve never had much luck building plastic link tracks - the metal ones for a Sherman are probably just as insane to build, so I’d like to find some banded ones if possible. I’ve seen the AFV club sets for the HVSS supension and they look alitte easier but they are still 5 pieces per set. I found a website that’s selling the AFV Club M4 T49 and T49 83/Track banded tracks but they are for an VVSS suspension. Would these work on an HVSS suspension?
Thanks
Charlie
No, tracks for a VVSS will not work on a HVSS. It is an entirely different suspension/track system.
Robin:
Thanks for the follow-up and I’m glad that I posted the question here before buying the AFV Club tracks. Guess I’ll have to bite the bullet and build what I have. The AFV Club workable links for the HVSS suspension look more paletable than the Dragon tracks. My big concern with the Dragon tracks is getting the center guide teeth straight so they line up right with the road and drive spindels. It looks like they just sit there where the AFV Club tracks interlink with the main links.
Charlie
i’ve got a dragon M3A3E8 and suspension and tracks went together no prob. try assembling a few links around the drive sprocket and idler wheel then do short runs, but i would suggest a quick drying glue cuz you might need to remove a link or 2
AFV Club does have a set of rubber band HVSS tracks, they have the T-66 style.
Kit # 35057.
Guys:
Thanks for all the great information. I’ll check into those banded tracks too!
Appreciate all your help

Robert:
I found the AFV Club banded tracks you mentioned and ordered them along with a couple gun barrels I needed for my M10 Duckbill and T34/85 Mod kits.
Thanks for the tip! Thanks everyone for all of your time and help!
Charlie
No problem Charlie … as with everything else in life there’s a cost though …
we want to see the finished pics.
