trying to find a good jagdtiger kit ( they are hard to find ) only saw 2 so far in 1/35 DML and tamiya
the best Jagtiger is the Dragon kit, the Revell kit is the the same kit as the Dragon but with no PE
the Tamiya Jagtiger is too short and about 30+ years old and should be taken of the shelfs
Thanks CC, thats what I thought
try and get the Henshell version becouse the tracks on the Porche version are a Knightmare loads of bits each link[:O]
Or get the Porsche version and the Friulmodel metal trax, like I did!
Takes a bit of the nightmare out of it.
I like the Porsche suspension, though! Makes it a little more interesting to me.
The DML henshell version is OOP as far as I can tell , which one actually saw combat ? Was the henshell right , they had problems with the porsche suspension if I am not correct . And yes no plastic trax for me , fruil has spoiled that , those things are just awesome ( kinda like the weight they add to the vehicle too !)
Hi there
I built the Revell jagdtiger kit using an Eduard aluminium gun barrel andd the Aber grill set.It was my first attempt at Iny link tracks and in my opinion it came out pretty well. I can recommend it.

they didnt make many of the Porche jagdtigers but both saw Combat are you sure the Henshell is OOP, ive seen them reboxed as Jagdtiger late
At most only a handful of Porsche wheeled jagdtigers were produced. Something like 50-70 Jagdtigers of both versions total. I could be incorrect, but I thought I read that the Henschel version didn’t come with side skirts included. Weren’t they supposed to reissued?
85 examples total in my ref…see below…hope this helps[:)]
ps couldn’t find prod numbers of the porsche version though[V]

Thanks for the link nick.
spector822002, Good luck on your purchase and build of the Jagtiger.

Thanks Nick, too bad some of the pics didn’t come in, I’ve never seen a Kingtiger recovery tank before. I should have stated in my last post that I thought that Dragon’s Henschel version did not come with side skirts. Remember reading that in a kit review. Sorry if I’m day tripping.
All: TY for the help here , as far as I can tell no net suppliers have either one in stock , with one exception and he only has the porche version , so I may go that route , supposed to be a great kit BTW ( good reviews )DML is weird for that rip it off the shelves only to reissue a year later , must be making improvements to all of thier kits ! Would like to do a complete interior as well ( time to scratchbuild [B)])…we’ll see !
There’s been a lot of talk about how many Porsche versions of the Jagdtiger there were. The Ryton book “Schwere Panzer in Detail” states that most sources claim that only two Porsche Jadgtigers were built, but that there is photographic evidence of at least four being built. Schwere Panzerabtelung 653 claims to have gotten three of the Porsche Jagdtigers. There are pictures of these vehicles being unloaded in a railyard, but unfortunately, only two of the Jadgtigers suspensions can be verified as Porsche. So who knows!?
Bottom line, both types were used in combat.
One of the Porsche Jadgtigers is in Bovington.
I’d build either one. At least two of the Porsche vehicles got zimmerit.
The book Jagdtiger: The most powerful Armoured Fighting Vehicle of World War II, volume 2, lists total production at 88 vehicles, 11 of which had Porsche suspension. Since they actually list the chassis number with suspension type and delivery dates, I would be inclined to believe these figures.

Thanks leopold!
Sorry, I can’t count, the number of Porsche vehicles is 11. The book mixed together production figures with delivery figures, and I didn’t pay attention to the chassis numbers. [D)]
Leopold: Nice dio you had there , the jagd, very well done ! You definatly deserved that award for that ! Gonna do a dio with this one too . Probably Ardennes forest scene . Probably broken down or reshelling ( 700 horsepower to move 72 tons ? ) lucky that beast could move at all !
according to the Hobbylink Japan web site the Jagd Tiger (Henschel) is being rereleased in march
Thanks Spector822002, I wish I could enter it in some more shows, but after winning Best Diorama at the 2003 ReCon 7 in Seattle, the only other show would be the IPMS Nationals, where it would surely be blown out of the water. It would also require me to join the IMPS, which I’m not quite sure about.
Captain Caveman You reminded me of the one major problem on my clunker Tamiya that I didn’t fix, (besides the P.O.S. tracks), the missing 7.4mm of hull length, which would have been a major headache to rebuild! So, by all means, pass on the Tamiya, Spector. I spent enough time trying to fix it and it still isn’t right! Now where did I put those firecrackers? [:p]
