And that is why I posted the links to the old threads on this subject. If only the forum link function would perform as designed.
Rex, died a few years back. Anyone remember Hunter, who also died in a work related training accident? It would be nice if vonHammer came back out of the whereabouts unknown. He did briefly appear under a new handle during the last forum dustup, but then dropped out again. Bernie/Phantom Phixer passed on several years back- his firsthand knowledge of the F-4 was immensely helpful to members here. Bitbite was a fun scoundrel (combat yard gnomes anyone?) who relocated to southern Oregon and occasionally communicates back channel, but has been on radio silence for awhile now. I’m sure that I’ve left out many more, not previously mentioned yet.

I do remember Karl aka The Doog running into some servious legal problems and someone updating us on his status. That was sad all the way around, but indefensible.

ChuckW posts from time to time on Aeroscale. Doogs ATX has his own site, Doogsmodels.com.

Other former FS Forum contributors show up on Aeroscale and Britmodeler as well.

Hunter was a young kid, maybe in his late 20s. When he first came on board, he had recently lost his dad. And in a short time, one of his female relatives or wife wrote to say he had passed away, something to do with Fire fighting and helicopters IIRC.

Was a SAR training exercise. He was a paramedic and rescue man.

I think Hunter was a wildland firefighter, I used to be familiar with the air rescue/ ambulamce service in Western Montanta, either way a tragic loss to his family and ours on the forums.

I remember som other folks like jelliot53, from Idaho. Met him face to face at the Spokane hub however we did not say in contact. Probably my fault more than his.

Well I belong to two IPMS chapters, pres. of one, so I meet fellow modelers at least once a month. I used get around a lot more, I can’t drive at night any more, but I like seeing guys and their kits better. I know that some Denver guys come here as well. (Hi guys). We have done meetings at my home. We just started doing meeting again, post quantine.

I should join IPMS. I’ve un-retired, but that has made my schedule more predictable.

John Robert is my first name. My mother never let my dad give me a shorter nickname. He was Jack. When I got to school most people called me John. But some of my closest buddies called me Johnny. Tempest is just a cool plane

I was an IPMS member for years. Great magazine for sure. I decided to stop competing and I let my membership lapse. I should join again to support the hobby if nothing else.

Same here, although it was because I started working nights and missed the club meetings.

Ironic, Colonel.

I just looked at our local chapter. They meet Mondays 1.30 to 4.00.

I’ve gone back to work 9-5.

Go figure…

Bill

For me it was okay to ride the 90 mile round trip to the club site once a month. But now I work nights in that city and do the 90 mile round trip every single day. So even if I had the day off, I don’t want to drive 90 miles round trip to go to the city to be at a club meeting.

My nickname probably isn’t all that exciting. I am a graduate of Texas A&M University, the Fightin’ Texas Aggies. I am a college football nut with a wardrobe comprised of a lot of maroon (school’s primary color). I am also male, so Aggieman fits me pretty well.

Knox is my last name, and what most of my friends call me by. My avatar is a picture of the country I grew up in. I lived in the highlands, and we took our vacations on the coast, usually at Madang. I know I’m biased, but it is the most beautiful country on earth.

I would hate to say that “Surface Line” is not very exciting, but it is certainly not very imginative. That was my speacialty as a naval officer, and the avatar here is the device.

Something that looks so simple sure was a major effort to attain.

Thanks for the thread HooYa. As a relative newcomer I have found it interesting and informative, a little sad too.
