Local Hobby Shop Burned Down

My favorite Hobby Shop, Nankin Hobby in Farmington, burned down yesterday. Everything, I mean everything is gone. All the trains, RC stuff, slot cars, plastic, gone. Thank God no one was hurt.

I hope they rebuild. They are great people and don’t deserve this.

Cheers

I hope they had insurance.

Ditto…it’s the only way they will be able to rebuild.

I hope so too. They had more inventory than any other hobby shop I’ve ever seen.

Cheers

That was one HUGE hobbyshop.

I could put all the local shops I frequent inside the shell of that building.

Very sorry to hear this. I didn’t get out there very often, but it was a great Hobby Shop. Not many left.

Regards, Rick

OH NO - that was my favorite hobby shop too. Can any one suggest a decent alternate here in SE Michigan?

Thanks, Chris

Regretably, I never made it to that one.

There’s one on Ford rd, somewhere near Middlebelt(I think east of Middlebelt, on the south side of Ford), can’t remember the name, but it doubles as a hardware store with all the hooby stuff in the back. Fair amount of choices in kits and supplies. Another one on Carpenter rd in Ypsi/A2, west side of the road, south of Washtenaw, in the same lot as Home Depot. It’s a Rider’s Hobby.

Hey Fermis…That’s also Nankin hobby. It’s at Ford Road, just east of Wayne on the south side. Same owners.

Cheers

Yeah i pulled into there lot today to pick up some paint and saw what had happened. They had a poster on the door about the reconstruction company that I assume is redoing the place. Hopefully it wont be long before they are reopened.

That’s terrible news; first Old Guard Hobbies goes out of business and then this. Ugh.

any cause determined? was the shop losing money?

Last I read, it was still under investigation. By the looks of where it seemed to be centered, I’m guessing an RC battery blew up. The 1st picture is right around where they kept battery packs. I’ve heard stories of some of those batteries blowing up. Some guys are keeping them in ammo boxes.

Cheers

I Know, I Know…sick humor!!![:$]

BUT CAN YOU SPELL " FIRE SALE?"[whstl]

Sorry to hear about your shop guys, however I can pass on a mail-order shop with pretty good prices.

ElmCityHobbies.com (Canadian prices which usually when converted to US dollars can be cheaper)

What a bad new, but luckily no one was hurt.

Hope they can rebuild the shop again.

We had a local hobby shop that burned down here several years ago. I don’t remember the exact cause, but the fire really got going when it hit the RC fuel and paint aisle.

Unfortunately the owners were older and they just took the insurance settlement and retired.

We had a NAPA Auto Parts store burn down due to battery chargers a few years ago.
