Liquid Mask on Decals?

Hello,

Does liquid mask (Parma in my case) work ok on decals? I have applied two coats of future to my model, added the decals and applied an oil wash. Now, I need to paint the engine nozzle and for that I need to mask off the surrounding area. However, there are a few decals close to it so masking tape by itself will not work.

I thought I could protect the decals by covering them with liquid mask, let it dry, then use masking tape as usual to get a sharp line. Currently my decals are not covered with any clear coat and I would prefer not to do that at this point. Do you think the liquid mask will later come off nice and clean, or will it pull all my decals with it?

Chances are high that the liquid mask will pull some of the decal off. I’ve had liquid mask pull paint off before. I wouldn’t even chance it with a clear coat over the decals. Usual rule of thumb is to apply all paint layers prior to decaling.
