Lighting, Wiring, LED's? Help!!

Hi all,

I have been thinking about doing a diorama of a passenger aircraft at night at the airport. What I would like to do is have all the lights working on the model. I have seen several pictures of this that I think are amazing. The problem I am having is I don’t have a clue as to where to start on the lights, wiring, how to get the lights to flash at random intervals etc. Does anyone know any web sites or books that deal with this subject?

Thanks

Check this guy out, he just started a series on LED basics about a week ago. I’ve done a lighted model before and so far he is on the spot about LEDs.

Have a look here:

Search through the various links; there’s lots of information. And you can purchase LEDS that flash randomly, so no special circuitry needed. You could run sufficient LEDs to do what you envision for months from a single 9V battery.

Thanks that is what I have been looking for [:D]

I recommend using fiber-optic strands for “Stay-on” nav-lights… The red, green, and white lights don’t flash… Single light-source then, too…

I’m going to be trying the same on a 1:48 B-24, Hans, where do you get your fiber optic strands from?
