Lifecolour RLM 02: Is it right?

I’ve been merrily painting away with my trusty pot of RLM 02 from Lifecolour, when it dawned upon me that it was not in fact grey, but green!

Having looked at the Gunze paint of supposedly the same hue, this has a green lid, but the paint itself looks grey!

The Gunze colour appears closer to that seen in period colour images, allowing for the effects of time and early, if admittedly excellent quality German colour film.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Also has anyone else tried the Luftarchiv site, it is all in German but the images, especially the colour ones are stunning?[?]

Yes, RLM 02 does have a green tint. Slight variations in hue are to be expected, as two “batches” of paint are never the same, whether they’re on a model or a real aircraft. The environment also plays a part, as do the interventions of people.

Thanks for that Pixilator.

My pot of Lifecolour 02 is not so much tinted green, as green!

I have now got a pot of Gunze 02, which I’ll be using on my next project, Italeri’s ex-Dragon 262, just like yours.

Thanks

Karl
