Let's see your 251's

Love the German halftracks, character flaw I suppose, but if you’ve got one you’ve built and you want to share, let’s see it.

Alright, here’s the reason for this post. I’ve got 5 of these from Dragon, one I’ve built which isn’t fit to post due to “moving damage” I haven’t corrected yet. Don’t you hate that? Anyway, the armor I’ve been getting geared up to build needed some extra’s from the AM and I’m waiting for those order’s. The 251’s are great out of the box so I’m going to start one of those. Maybe the “Drilling” 251/21 Ausf.D. Or maybe the Pakwagon, 251/22 Ausf.D.

So, I guess I’m looking for inspiration, or a swift kick to get this up and running, any help would be appreciated.

Dale

Here are the 2 I have done. One is the ooold Tamiya “Hanomag” and the other is DML’s Ausf.C. Not the greatest, but I like em. I too have the Dragon Drilling and it looks like a fun kit.

Coincidence, the Tamiya kit, look’s like the Tamiya Pak 40 in tow right behind. The first 251 I built was the same kit, and I’ve got the Pak 40 hooked to mine as well. The Hanomag has gone through a couple changes since though. I converted to the Ausf. C PioneerPanzerWagon and mounted the 251/1 MG in place on the front. Kind of an interesting mix but I had a pic of one that gave me the idea.

Great looking 251’s Jester, thanks

Dale

Your right, that is the Tamiya PaK40 in tow!! Nice lil kit for its age!

I havent gotten around to getting one in 1/72 yet. Its on my to-do list though. I also reallly like the halftrack. Does anyone know of a good 1/72 251 kit?

The one and only Drilling in 1/35th (Dragon):

Dragon makes two versions of great 251s in 1:72 - C, D and many subversions…

Those models are great, look here…

That’s the one Crockett. I really like the way your camo turned out on this. The weathering looks fantastic too.

Thanks for sharing,

Dale

The winter paint scheme is really well done. Do you have a dio setting for it? If so please let me know so I can check it out.

Here is a couple of mine, the 251/22 is still getting tweaked, not quite done.

I figured you’d have a couple in your collection Manstein, Excellent!

Let’s see if I can hit these a little better than the “Tiger” Panzer IV

The first one I’ve been looking for cause it always seems to me as if the gun shield is on the wrong way, 251/17 with the 2cm Flak 38?

Second, 251/6 command wagon?

Third, 251/7 Pioneerpanzerwagon?

Again Manstein, beautiful builds, thanks for adding them in

Dale

Heres my ooooollld Tamiya Rivetted version. It was one of my 1st armor models and i had lots of advice and help with the weathering from others on this site.

…Guy

Ah, the Stuka Zu Fuss, one of the 251’s I can’t find in the model shop here. Gonna order one though.

They both look great! What’s left on the 251/22 your tweaking?

Thanks for sharing.

Dale

“One of your first armor models” turned out alot better than most of my first armor build’s. If I remember right the Tamiya Hanomag may have been my first foray into German armor. Jester75 and I were talking about this exact kit a few posts earlier. Looks like the grey is the popular color to go on the Tam kit.

Thanks for adding your kit in.

Thanks for the inspiration everyone, here’s the one I decided to build… The Dragon 251/10 Ausf. C with the 3.7cm PaK.

First impression is that the tracks hurt to build. It’s the link tracks but still have to remove and clean every piece. (First time on the individual link tracks for me) Decided to go with this one next because apparently it’s not that common, which interested me. There’s kit builds in the 1/72 scale but not too many in the 1/35 that I could find. And as for research I could only find a few entries, nothing in depth.

Thanks again for the “swift kick” to get the motivation going.

Dale

I’m currently building the same kit SA. The Indy links arent too bad but they might be kinda tough for your first time. I’m gonna bend the instructions a little and copy the boxart and do the pioneer “bridge” thingy and the 3.7 cm paK. on the same halftrack.

Good Luck!

Townsy,

Wow, great collection of 251’s. I thought I was observing a GB. LOL

Panzer88, love the camo on your 251 with the Pak 40.

Anyone built the AFv kit? I have one in the stash and was wondering if members like them or Dragon better.

How far along on the build are you Townsey? I had contemplated doing the same mix on this one but converted my old Tamiya Hanomag to the Pioneerwagon, so didn’t have the parts left anymore.

Dale

Tigerman, the 251/22 that I built here is the AFV one. Also, thanks for the kind words. The kit wasn,t bad, had some fiddly things here and there and some fit issues, but they might of been builder error. If you decide to tackle this one my advice is take it slow and be patient, you’ll be happy with the results. By the way I used silly putty for the camoflage. Also regarding the kit, lots of extra little parts left over that could be used for other 251’s or the like.

You asked for them. [:D]
