Let's Paint an F-86 Sabre With Alclad 2 !!

There is such a bewildering choice of metalic enamels and laquers on the market. Can you guys assist me with picking some Alclad 2 metalics to paint a natural metal F-86 Sabre from the Korean War?

Our selection of paints is:

  1. Aluminium
  2. Duraluminium
  3. Dark Aluminium
  4. Pale Burnt Metal
  5. White Aluminium
  6. Magnesium
  7. Steel
  8. Jet Exhaust

Which colors do you chose to paint which areas of the jet?

Monster Zero are you in our NMF group build that I started? If not join. I dont have a great memory so I forget who is doing what. Take care and I would humbly suggest to start with the Aluminum but work with maybe something else for the back panels. Good luck. I can’t wait to work on mine.

OK, if nobody has detailed info can you tell me the most predominant metal in that plane? Duraluminum?

I couldn’t tell you. I have a Dog Sabre not a Sabre I thought it was all aluminum.

The basic Aluminum color would be OK for the overall color, but if you look at color photos of the real birds there were considerable variation on some panels. The cannon trough panels are a much darker shade, about Steel in the Alclad2 line. Best advice is to look at some pics and try to match what you see with the Alclad2 shades. You will find that you will need about 3 or 4 shades for the various panel differences.

heres some photos of a cf-86 natural metal. hope this helps!
