Remember I live outside San Antonio,Tx. I have searched hi and low for Rub on lettering for my models. Where has it gone to? I’ve tried Office Depot. Office Max, Micheals, Joannes,And lastly Hobby Lobby and cannot find it in Model scales anymore. What gives? I cannot believe that only decals are around to do the job with.
My HL has them, but in very few fonts and sizes. Have you searched online?
Oh, man…that brings back memories. I remember using ChartPak lettering for HS projects. I did a quick search on Amazon for “dry transfer lettering” and they definitely have some, but I didn’t necessarily see anything that stands out as model scale. They did have some items from Woodland Scenics, though, so maybe check their website directly for more selection? May just be in RR scales, though…

I went on a quest for dry-transfer lettering for modeling a few years ago, stumbled across some of the recommendations above, but the selection was so bad I gave up and never looked back.

Sorry to say, I have come up zilch for the sizes I need. I guess I will just have to become a better Decaler! MICROSCALE Decals seems to be workable! They are forgoving using their instructions and system. Once you hit them with the MICROSET they look painted on AND have good opacity or lack thereof! The MICROSOL lets you piddle with them a wee bit without them curling into a useless glob!
Going back to the Neck Mounted Magnifier and Ultra Fine Point Tweezers at Eighty years of age was not expected! BUT. I found if I sing to myself especially the “Sink the Bismark” or the “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” calms me enough to do it. Silly isn’t it? The biggest problem with them, There’s enough space to work with them Horizontally, But there is no break in the clear film base between letters. So you can only handle them from the thin edge at the Top or Bottom.

Hi! yeah I tried and for the size I needed they were out of stock mostly in the colors I needed. I guess Black and White get used a lot!

Yeah, the Model rail guys and gals use them for everything from their buldings to the trains and train cars. Try something like for 50 taconite carrying gondolas and you know What I mean. Lettering, the Same , on both sides! In H.O.(1/87, or N (1/160 )or, G"" or commonly “O”(1/48 ") snd you see what I mean. I have a friend who passed, He had over 150 buildings and I think about 60 passenger cars and over 125 freight cars and he built them all as kits and lettered every one himself , because he couldn’t find rolling stock pre-labeled in what he wanted!
