Lawrence Hansen:re: Model Music

Just thought I’d lifr this up out of the thread where the duscussion is raging so someone would notice the question.

Lot of guys here seem to like 80’s music and Metallica and so on.
Would FSM consider releasing a cd for modelling to and donating the proceeds to a nominated charity, like for war vets/fighter pilots or such?

You could call it FSM’S Greatest Hits!!! Music to Model By…
You see the artists involved could be persuaded to contribute because of the charity angle. As for the content, take a poll and the most popular gets the ticket…

What do you guys think???

I think, if this can be arranged, that it would be such a good idea! We are all modellers of planes, trains, automobiles, ships etc. There are bound to be any number of organisations, representative of the people involved with the real deal that the models we make are based upon, that would benefit from monies raised through the sale of such an item.

And it’s something that could be done on an annual basis!!!
You could sell it thru the web-site, the forum or the magazine.

C’mon, let’s see what we can do here! I nominate Steve Earle’s “Copperhead Road” as track one, side one ( for all youse out there who remember vinyl!)

The proceeds could go to modeling clubs or to those individuals who cannot affortd this hobby but want to enjoy it.

Should we ask the Admins to make this a sticky?[:D]

W0w, amazing idea. Great thinking.

Excellent idea, as for what charity I think that the admin should make a list of ten to twenty of whatever charity and then the members vote and the one with the most votes gets it. Just my thought.

How about furnishing our guys and gals over seas… especially Iraq and Afganastan with some kits, paint, tools, airbrushes, and of coarse subscriptions to FSM. Just a thought. I can’t think of a better place for the proceeds to go. I’d be more then happy to float a few bucks towards that.

That is a great idea…and how about that CD-Rom with all of the backissue articles on it? I thought that I saw that one once for $30.00, and when I went to purchase it, it disappeared?! Sorry, didn’t mean to get off topic. If there was a modeling CD, I’d buy it!!!

I agree Heath, I’d buy at least two copies of that!

I would also have to buy one and probably extras to give as gifts. How about “Nothing else matters” by Metallica for the second song? or maybe “Enter Sandman”?

Sorry Roadkill, the best modeling song HAS to be ‘Battery’ or ‘For whom the bell tolls’

Muwhahahaaa

Jeff Herne
(an old fart that still listens to Metallica)

My wife also agrees with you. There is so much in their repertoire that makes good modeling music. I almost always have Met on when I’m modeling. And besides you’re never to old to listen to Met!!!

Hey Roadkill,

While we’re on the subject…there’s a band called ‘Prototype’ that’s done an excellent cover of Battery…drop me an email and I’ll send you the MP3. Or, you can probably find it on soundclick.com

Jeff

My 16 yo daughter can’t understand why I like Metallica (she likes country).

metallica is ok but at times they are too tame for me.

There is one thing that really gets me in the mood for modeling WWII aircraft and that is listening to the big bands play war era music. I have a 10 record set that was put out by Time years ago. Picked it up at a flea market for $5, still in the wrapper and never been played. You want to talk about mood music? This id it, nothing better.

Ed

nothing better than Met???[:O][:O][:O] Bite your tongue!!!

Just kidding. Metallica is just one of a whole list of music I listen too. AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Kid Rock, George Jones, Willie, Waylon,Johny. But the best music to relax by? Definately Lynnard Skynnard

I know what you mean Ed, nothing makes me want to build a WW2 fighter more than a little Glen Miller. I listen to a lot of different music while I model though… everything from Louis Armstrong to Me First and the Gimme Gimmes… there’s not much music I don’t like.

Well, seeing that I am two days older than dirt I have to agree with the WWII guys[#ditto] Thats what I model and thats what I grew up listening to [{(-_-)}] But regardless of what music is on ths CD I would support it and also support the determination of where the proceeds go[tup]

Great idea yeehah12002. You da man[bow][bow][bow][bow]

It’s up to Mr.Hasen and the boys at FineScale to put this together. All we can do is ask.
Is anyone up there listening?
Liam

I’m not…but then again, there’s hooples all over my workshop!!
