Well, that beats my El camino.
Certainly beats what the local dogs leave when their owners walk 'em in my neighborhood…
Driving through a town in Central Wisconsin- I think it was Ripon- we saw a Chevy small block engine mounted on a house’s mailbox post, with the actual box just above it.
Local West Chicago VFW post has one of these F-84 Fs on their front lawn:
The American Legion Post 4 in Mt. Clemens, MI has a F-101B parked out front. You can see it here
Near my home in Oregon, a farmer has a big collection of tractors in his yard. Most of the common makes, Ford, John Deere, Farmall, etc. Maybe number about 30, nice to see.

Phil, where is that. Old RAF base i am guessing.

Its the BAE Warton site and I am really really not surposed to take pictures there. Behind me when I took this where some very “factory” fresh Typhoons (they didnt even have tail numbers).
My plan is to wait till my last day, which will be in a few months max, and I’ll take my DSLR and take some proper pictures of the Lightning. For a change its a real one not a fibreglass copy
Phil
O you naughty boy [;)]. Good to hear its a real one.
I’ve seen that one…from about 3000’ above.
There’s also an airport, somewhere between Mt. Clemens and Flint, that has a a couple “gate guards”…not sure what the were, as I was at about 6000’ with a hazey 3miles visability. I do believe one of them is an F-100. We have some pics at my airport of a Skycrane, hauling an F-100 that was destined for gate guard duty. They stopped here for a fuel stop.
I’m sittin here at my airport, bored…waiting for snow to pile up, so I can go clean it up. I’ll run over to the old terminal…I think that’s where the pics are…and get some pics…of the pics. And any others I find interesting!
Fermis,
Did it look like this:
That is Grand Haven Memorial Airport. And that is a F-100 guarding tha gate. I just did a search on airports located between Flint and Mt Clemens and happen to find it. I would guess that is it.
Grand Haven…that’s the one.
However, the pics we have here, along with a news article (from 1984), state that the 100 was headed to Selfridge for gate guard duty.
I got some pics of the pics, but P/B is blocked on the work PC, so I’ll have to post em later.
Since we’re on “Gate guards”…and I’m bored!
My older bro is responsible for this one. VMFA(AW)-332 Moonlighters. This was his first squadron, and was disbanded shortly after returning from Iraq. The Brass was furious…other than the blacked out canopy, it was/is fully functional, fresh from the depot. It was intended to just be temporary, for the disbanding ceremony, but the base commander over-rode everybody and made it a gate guard.

Side note…I built Academy’s 1/32 F-18D for my bro, while he was in Iraq. I kept notes on times and what I did for each session. When he got back, we compared my notes to his log book. Turns out, that when I was making the GBU-12’s, he was dropping a pair of em (with 50+ confirmed enemy KIA’s). I have no pics, but while searching for the gate guard above, I found a pic of my model on a contest table! It was marked as it appeared in Iraq, 2003.

The pics I mentioned…

There’s a few other pics of pics I took…

Fermis,
Thanks for sharing! That is really cool!
If that is the place down by Creswell I would guess closer to 50 all lined up out there.
There was a transportation museum in Owatonna, Mn. that had four T-38s in on a pylon dividing into a star burst with the planes past vertical. Pretty spectacular. The museum closed several years ago but the last time I drove past there, the pylon and planes were still there. That was over a year ago, so they may well be gone by now.
Mine trumps all yours. All within a 30 mile radius of each other.

What’s nice about the B-52 is that you can go up and walk around it. It gives you a sense of how large this aircraft is up close. Heck, the tires alone are immense.
The full size cruise missle is also there on a separate static stand next to the bomber.
