Does anyone know if the Revell/Italeri LAV-25 Piranha is somewhat accurate.
I’ve heard rumor that there are some dimensional errors.
I’ve also heard that there is alot of scratchbuilding to bring
it up to spec.
Just looking for some information…THanks
Kalmbach does a book with an article by Cookie Sewell on all the inaccuracies of this kit. This kit is the better or the two that came out at the same time (Esci being the other).
Thanks for the info on the book Rob, unfortunately I wasn’t able
to find it on the Kalmbach website. Anyone know where I might be able to find it?
I am also looking for detail photos of the Piranha too. I haven’t
been able to find any close enough.
I have the kit on my table just SCREAMING to be opened.
I am also planning to add pics of my very first 100% completed
model. It is a King Tiger with the production turret. I modeled it
as a fictitous unit.
Thanks,
Dustan

This is the book, I bought mine recently from HobbyTownUSA in Burlington, Mass. This kit was criticized way back when it first came out as being inaccurate. I built one OOB, no aftermarket stuff, and was satisfied with it. Of course, I wouldn’t know and accurate from an inaccurate LAV.
Ah that book…thanks Rob again.
I am just interested in what it takes to accurize it. I am getting into the scratchbuilding aspect of the hobby and thought this would be a good start.
Thanks again
