Latest work, M60A2 w/CBSS...

Here is my latest, a late M60A2 w/CBSS. I used the Esci M60A3 hull (since it is the most acurate available) and Tamiya turret. I got the CBSS bulge for the rear from another modeler. Added new spot light and mount from an M48A3, new barrel without bore evac and correct length (kit one is 3mm too short), added cast texture to turret and commander’s cupola, forge mark and casting numbers to turret side, clips for tow cable, cut mud relief holes in sprockets, etc., etc. The Tamiya turret is not that bad to start with. The Tamiya hull is a dog.

Here it is.

Looking great Gino, I like that turret for some reason…

Thanks, glad you like it. It is an interesting design, in an ugly kind of way.

Again you give me motivation i have this kit sitting on my to do shelf and have been thinking of the best way to make it more accurate

looks good

Also the only production MBT I can think of which has hatches for all four crewmen.

Looks like you’re putting a good deal of work into it. I’m impressed.

Go Gino!

sweet looking build so far Gino!!! Going that extra mile for a great looking tank! Have to agree on the turret… it’s got it’s own personal charm! definately can’t wait to see this painted up

Fine looking work so far and I concur about the Tamiya hull being a dog.

Nice work on one of the Oddest of the Oddballs. I can’t wait to see it finished.

Looking great! You put a lot of work into your kits, I have to congratulate you on that, I am more OOB, but the detail on that thing looks great, I really want to see it painted.

Good job!

Great work as always. Your screen work on the storage is really sharp. Please excuse my ignorance, but what is CBSS?

Glad you all like it. Yes, I really like the look of this lesser known tank. I waned it to come out really nicely.

CBSS is Closed Breech Scavenger System. It was used to clear the breech of smoldering embers after firing. The tank used combustible case ammo (like the M1A1) and some pieces of the case would remain in the breech. The CBSS was a compressor and a couple air tanks housed in the rear of the hull. The pressurized air would shoot a couple 1500 psi puffs into the breech to blow out and clear any embers after firing.

Yeah, it just makes the vehicle look really agressive.
Wonderful job. I love seeing your in progress builds. Goes to show that you don’t need a fortune in AM parts to build an excellent model.

Thanks for the CBSS lesson. I always learn something new from your work.

Great work on an interesting vehicle, Gino.
Looking forward to seeing the finished model.

Thanks guys. Should have an update soon. Put some paint on it last night, European Woodland MERDC sheme. Should have it done this weekend.
