late ambush camo

I know asking about paint color is going to open a whole can of worms but here goes! [}:)]

What paints do you think are the best match for the German ambush?

I know all the arguments over paint mixed in the field being different shades depending on what was use to thin, i just wondered what everyone used.

I use Tamiya acrylics. XF-60 Dark Yellow for Dunkelgelb. I’m not sure what the numbers are for Red Brown and Dark Green.

Hi box1, Tamiya’s Dark Green is XF61 and Red Brown is XF64, but my swatch doesn’t look to accurate. X9 looks closer to German Red Brown on this swatch.

I use Model Master Acryls. I haven’t painted any German camo jobs since I switched to them. I used to use Humbrol enamels, Ochre #83, Red Brown #160, Dark green #30. Good luck.

I use Model Master Acryls as well, # 4796 dunkelgelb, # 4798 ovilgrun, and # 4707 earth red.

I’ve just finished painting a three color ambush pattern on this Panther II I’m currently working on. I used Tamiya Dark Yellow, XF-60; Olive Green, XF-58; and Red Brown, XF-64. I lightened all three colors about 30% with Tamiya flat white for ‘scale effect’, plus I wanted to have the colors appear faded, plus I know the ‘clear-coat’ I use, acrylic automotive lacquer, will slighty darken the appearance of whatever it’s sprayed over.

There’s no can of worms to open. Please yourself.
