Buenos Dias, y’all. I just finished a build. It could be my last build of 2025 or my first finished build for 2026. The kit is the very old AmTech 1/48 scale Focke-Wulf Ta 183 Huckebein. For a long time I’ve been looking for an airplane I could pose in flight and this kit fit the bill. I picked the kit at Modelpalooza back in October. After the show, we hit the Michaels out in Oviedo and bought some wood plaques and coasters to mount finished builds on.
The AmTech kit is a nice kit, even for its age. I liked the low parts count, the excellent parts fit, and the good detail. Very nice.
Of course, everything about the airplane is made up since it never went into production and didn’t fly in combat. The camouflage scheme I found online. The pilot is out of the Tamiya 1/48 Me-262 and the decals are out of the Dragon Me-262 two seater. The acrylic rod came off somebody’s table at Modelpalooza.
All in all, I think the build came out pretty nice. I’m looking forward to posing another jet in flight later on this year.
Comments are welcome, so don’t hesitate to say something.
I remember seeing that kit in a hobby store (not model shop, something like Michael’s but also not a Michael’s) in the years right after I had returned to the hobby. I had never heard of this particular aircraft, but I could instantly see its connection to the MiG-15. As it felt like a Luft-46 type of project, I opted against buying it at that time. But I do like the way the Huckbein looks. Your presentation on the rod is great.
Really nice finish on a wild looking little bird. I like to do some of my planes in flight. Model companies generally aren’t friendly about closing gear doors. Yours looks buttoned up nicely. Great job.
Very old?! I bought two of those kits when they came out so that I could build both engine versions. I still have one original kit as well as a Tamiya reboxing. Nice work on yours!
My last build of 2025 was the Magic Factory figure set for their MRZR D4 kit. I was impressed with the detail in both the figures and the kit.
