Holey spitfire batman…ITS HUGE!

Bob

1/1 Scale. Now we need a detailed plastic Merlin!

I guess you’d a bowling ball for a weight. Maybe a boltcutter as a sprue nipper. I want to see them assemble that thing!

That’s freeking cool…need something a bit bigger than and exacto though.

I was expecting the pilot to jump up though.

Does Eduard make a cockpit detail set ?

That is it to the video??? I want more more more!!! [:D]

Brian

I wanna see the display case that thing is going to be in!

Pretty awesome. Although I’d go with an Aires cockpit and resin tires… And what about aftermarket decals? The kit options are just so limited… [swg]

Don

One thing’s for sure, the underside is the wrong color! LOL.

Thats pretty awesome. Thx for sharing the video.

That is crazy! And I thought the 1/24 scale guys were nuts. [8-]

Here’s more of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e433yczzEPU

I didn’t see any weathering and what about the seams?

For those not in the know, this was part of a BBC2 show about the Airfix era. James May (of Top Gear fame) tried to get some local school kids interested in making kits and then selected a dozen of the most enthusiastic to help make this full size “Airfix kit”. The parts were specially made from fibre glass by a company who makes replicas for Airbase entrances.

The pilot is a resin copy of James.

The paint scheme was designed and painted by the kids so there may be some accuracy errors [:D]

The model is currently on display at RAF Cosford Museum.

Also, I approve of the fact that if not all, the majority of the students helping him build it were female, and they apparently knew something about kit buildin.

So, who has one on pre-order?

WOW!!! I am putting on of those in my “WISH LIST” Super detaling it would be something else.

This is totally cool. James May has done some pretty impressive things with Meccano and Lego, and now this. He’s a one man let’s get kids interested in things other than TV and computer games band!

Wonder what’s next? 1:1 scale model rocketry? [:D]
