Today I proudly present a new page and a new modeler named “Tazmanian” who built

5 pieces of armor, warplanes and warships for this page. This is the armor.

Comments and suggestions are welcome!

Have fun!

nice, I love the oily dark spots in the lower weathered areas.

he does have a seam showing on the head of the pick on the fender though

Not too bad. Looks like he took lessons from AI though. His too have clean wheels and dirty bodies and undercarriages. The decals on the doors are silvered and cracked. The front turn signals should be amber not red as well. The painting of them is sloppy too.

The Italeri 109 is a (slightly) militarised version of the civvy 111a, there were a few of this spec used by the UK army & other services, but mot many as built out of the box.

Also… “grille” on rh front fender(!) between front wheel & door is part of air filtration, & is black plastic intake, so dull black please.

Canopy cover is in several parts, so details wrong for UK landy, too many gaps & seams in hood & front wings around the radiator grille

‘Step’ between ‘bottom rail’ on lh side between door & load body & pioneer tools covered in seams, shouldn’t be carried on wings wither, health & safety, don’t ya know! [:O]

Jon,

I disagree about the location of the pioneer tools. I drove a series III 109 in The Australian Army in the 1980s, and that’s where they were located on the Australian Landrovers (admittedly the pick head was removed from the handle and stored beside it) I just looked at the Testors kit I have in the stash with the Aussie Armour Series III conversion and the General Service trailer kit, but unfortunately, no tools included by the looks of it.

G’day mate!
got a tinnie handy?
I should clarify, I hadn’t seen UK landys with pioneer tools on the wings, …unless you know different? [;)]

Got any photos of your ride btw? an " Aussie Armour Series III conversion and the General Service trailer kit" it would make a good blog… [:D]

There was a group build last year where you modelled what you used to drive/fly/use in the armed services. Unfortunately I got my Landy too late to start. I got so much on my plate modelling wise (my two sons are hard taskmasters) I’ll get to it some day. Luckily they diddnt have too much in the way of markings. I’ll have to scratch a tac plate (unit insignia) As far as the location of the pioneer tools, Its possible that the Aussie 109s were modified once they arrived ? All the best.

Paul.

Thanks for your comments, information and discussion. I remember my reckless driving of a Land Rover some 20+ years ago. I reached it top speed of 100km/h and nearly got an accident several times on the same day due to understeering of the wheels (wheels turn slower than expected). I don’t remember the last time I drove a car, it’s probably more than 10 years ago.
