It seems strange that there are no recent WW1 air combat sims for either the PC or video-game formats.Does anyone know of any recent titles?The only one that comes to mind is the old “Red Baron” game that i think is over ten years old.
It’s not a “new” sim, but CFS 2 is still pretty good and there’s quite a bit of WW1 stuff coming down the pipe. Red Baron 3D still has the best dynamic campaign though…
As far as I know your right on the Red Baron Issue. If your interested in the last version of the game (RB 3D) it has been made available for free to download… I know there are still quite a few WWI sime guys playing it still…

I have “Flyboys Squadron” for the PC which can be fun, but I’ve had a lot of problems getting it to work correctly. It’s not bad when it works, but when there’s problems…
IIRC the Flyboys Squadron program was based on Dawn of Aces which I think might be a downloadable online game. I think.

RB3D’s “immersion factor” is never going to be beaten, in my humble opinion…
OK that’s it, I got to dust off the thrustmasters and see if I can get it running again. Anyone know if it runs ok on Vista? (I know I hate it to but I’m a IT guy and have it working OK for me right now) If Not I have no problems at all removing Vista and rolling back to XP, just give me an exuse!

Well if you guys are intent on playing RB3D try to get your hands on the “Full Canvas Jacket” upgrade, it takes it to a whole new level.
that’s funny, FCJ…so do you know if it will run on vista? I’d hate to spend Sat night pluggin at the puter to make it run when I could be modeling. I would hope I could hit it and git it and be up and running.

There was also a game called Flying Corps. I had it when it was new, but seem to remember it not liking XP, hence I haven’t played it for years.

A couple of years ago I built myself an old Windows 98 box just so that I could play all my old XP unfriendly games, particularly X Wing Collectors Edition. Haven’ t got around to using it much though.
No idea, Vista is kind of it’s own little world, which is why I still run XP.
