Was going thru some very old supplies and found two bottles of Krasel Industries Micro Flat and Micro Gloss. They have to be at least 20-25 years old but are still good. These may be under the new label of Microscale Industries? Have no idea if they are acrylic or solvent based. What can I use to thin them as the labels says to use Microcoat thinner only which is OOP?
Junkie - That sounds kind of right, it may well be Microscale. It’s acrylic to the best of my knowledge, I reduce mine with either water or alcohol, I tried using some that was from the mid 70’s and it seemed to work fine.
I only use the Microscale range of varnish and have no problem with water for thinning.
yep, that is the old name for Microscale Flat and Gloss
You could contact Microscale at their website to ask them directly, often thought closed, they are alive and well at www.microscale.com/…/merchant.mvc (they only split off the aircraft lines with Superscale, then almost immediately started releasing their own aircraft sheets again)

edit, from the very bottom of their FAQ page
“Microscale – Micro Gloss, Micro Flat, and Micro Satin for use on painted plastic surfaces. These are a water base product.”
Thanks guys for your comments.
