Korean K9 Thunder complete

Guys,

Here’s Academy’s 1/35 scale K9 self-propelled howitzer which I built for review in FSM. Look for the complete text in September. In the meantime, let me know what you think. Comments and critiques welcome.

Cheers, Aaron

Looks pretty good from here Aaron. Mike (redleg) will be along no doubt soon to drool over this impressive piece of SP arty! [;)]

Nice build. I like the camo. I suppose that will be detailed in the review?

And, it’s…

BIG!

Holy S**T that is one big gun. I am getting cannon envy as we speak! [:D]

Brian

Looks really nice. I just got the Neo resin/PE upgrade set for mine. I’ll have to see how the upgrade set looks on it compared to yours. Nice job.

WOW! Very, very nice build, paint etc! Is that the same gun that’s used on the Pz2000?

Looking great…Fine work…

No Redleg yet? It’ll happen. Very sharp Aaron.

Aaron - WOW…two visits in one week from Mt Olympus…and a gift…a very nice looking build…

Great camo work…nice clean lines…maybe a bit more dirt in the track area…but again that’s just my opinion, even without, the Redlegs of the forum salute you

Rounds Complete!!..

Mark as Target 005!!

Great video!!! Now I am pumped up and ready to go cut some plastic!!! I can almost smell the wolf pu$$y!!!

Very nice Aaron. I like that camo job. And yes, that is one LARGE gun.

Look forward to the review.

Looks as if she’d land on her nose if ya slammed the brakes. So this is the kind of thing that happens on Olympus!! Nice build Mr. Skinner.[H][Y]

Nice job Aaron.

This is one of the contenders for the Australian Army’s LAND 17 program. I reckon she’d look good in Aussie 3-tone camo. [:D]

Doesn’t everything, Phil?

Thanks for all the comments, guys. The paint is all Model Master enamels (I’d forgotten how well those airbrush) and the colors are as recommended in the instructions. I think the brown is too dark compared to photos, IMO.

MIke, I agree it could use more dirt. I’m always a little hesitant to go too far on a review model – afraid readers might think I’m trying to hide something.[:)]

Gino, I look forward to seeing yours with the update sets applied.

Cheers, Aaron

Hey great job Aaron! Camo looks terrific. I’ve been puttering around with Academy;'s K1A1 and hope my camo comes out half as well.

I’ve been reading about the Korean War recently and it seemed that massed artillery was about the only thing to stop the Red Chinese human wave assaults. Several ROK officers wrote about ‘cannon envy’ from the heavier stuff deployed by the US Army. I suppose hardware like this went a long way to curing that.

I built the K1A1 a couple of years ago. Also a nice build.

The size of the gun is the first thing everyone says about the K9. I want to build Revell Germany’s PzH 2000 to sit next to it.

Cheers, Aaron
