Komatsu G40 Bulldozer

Hi all,

This is the latest release from Tamiya…It’s been such a long time since I’ve done work in 48th scale…it sure is small. Don’t ask me why but apparently I’ve got a big soft spot for dozer’s and construction equipment so when I saw the announcement for this kit release I was very excited.

The model is so lovely that I basically built it straight from the box. The only tweak that I made was to replace the kit’s smooth plastic hydraulic lines with new hoses made from solder wrapped with wire to hopefully more accurately represent the real thing.

In progress…

And here is where it stands at the moment - I have a few more things to attend to but it’s basically there…

Thanks for taking the time to look,

Rick

Very nice build! I love the transition from pretty, clean and green to well worn and rusty. The weathering on that blade and the runnning gear is superb! About how long is this model, a few inches I guess?

I wish there was more construction equipment out there, especially in 1/35. Maybe Tamiya has more plans down the road.

Beautiful job Rick! Fantastic worn metal effect on the blade, and tracks, well done!

Nate

I love it…nice job on the blade. The wear and wethering looks great. Hoses look good too!!

It would be great to have some of these in 1/35.

Rounds Complete!!

an unsurprisingly stellar build [Y]

Hi guys,

Thanks for the very kind remarks…this is a very nice kit and a lot of fun to build.

George,

this little guy measures about 2.5+ inches in length and about 1.5 inches in height.

Rick

SWEET!! Very nice Build Rick [Y]. I build mostly 1/48 & this kit is on my wish list.

Regards, Rick

[dto:]. RIck, I’ve seen your works up close and personal at the McMinville show several years running now and, have always been impressed with what you present. That dozer is stunning. Looking forward to what you will be bringing this year.

Cheers

Dave

Super work Rick just stunning.

Terry.

Sweet work on the quarter-scale 'dozer Rick! [Y]

Can I say it?

It’s cute…

Oh My! What an absolutely stunning build!

Rick, i gota soft spot for dozers too–musta been seeing the Fighting SeeBees as a kid

The Seabees big post is 10 miles from here too-great buncha guys

Your little tractor is fantastic–a tribute to dirt-work! Nice little addition to a Dio too–I’m betting / hoping Tamiya gives us this model in 1/35 next year

Good morning fellows,

Thanks again. Funny thing about posting on the forums it seems that there are a lot of very nice, smart, and informed people who are willing to share information with you. One such individual has stepped up to offer me some additional photos of this little 'dozer which will require a few changes on my part to give it better detail.

Stay tuned!

Rick

Wow are you going to bring this little dude to Seattle this weekend? Love the sublime weathering. After seeing your mini-Marder at Evergreen, this ought to be a gem.

Sorry, but I’m afraid that I’ll be missing this years show.

Have fun and best of luck to all…

Rick

I think she looks great as she is! Great build and great weathering.

And yes since the Sea Bees used captured Japanese equipment there’s a pile of possiblities!

I’ve got to pick one up soon, it’s screaming DIORAMA at me…

Beautiful Rick just beautiful. Funny to call a ulitarian sqaut and ugly work horse beautiful but it’s true just the same.

You will be missed at the Spring Show Rick!

Stunning work Rick, beautiful job. Going to miss you at the spring show buddy wish you could be there.

Bob

Wow, I am even more impressed by the weathering when hearing this dozer is so tiny! Very well done!
