Hi all. I need to start building my 1/32 Tam F-51d in Korean SAAF sceeme. Here is my question, were the wings in Korea also puttied, sanded and sliver painted like on WW2 Mustangs?
If so it would be a real pitty to hide all the exelent detail on the kit.

Yes, they would have been WWII or postwar production Mustangs and still maintained to the same standard as in 1945. Especially being hand me downs from the USAF so to speak.
They were all indeed hand me downs collected by the SAAF in Japan in 1950. They all had the uncuffed props, so I recon they had to be slightly later production models.
SO then the following will be correct?
a. the entire wing pannel lines (except for gun access and wingtips) would be puttied and the wgole wing silver painted (something like Tamiya X-11 chrome silver?)
b. the tail , fuselarge and flaps/ailerons were left in NMF, sometimes pollished, but not highly.
c. Wheelwells chromate or silver?
d. Cockpit interior would be black not green?
