Know this kit?

My first passion is anything with wings but I do like WW II armor too. I was in the hobby store yesterday and a kit caught my eye. Has anyone built the Tamiya 1/35 M3 Lee MK I kit? Looks like an interesting subject and a fun build.

Ancient and inaccurate, but until recently, was the only one available. Academy just released a new one with interior. Builds well and looks like a Lee when done. Plenty of problems with it, but if you don’t know, it won’t matter.

This is what the Tamiya kit looks like when it’s built… and then set on fire filled with black powder. It’s not a very good kit. Its best use was as an ordinance demonstration in Djibouti (pronounced Ja-Booty), Africa.

Brunswick, OH Huh, I grew up in Medina. Work dictates that I live in Bengals country now.

As Rob G. said.

I’d add that the Tamiya, while inaccurate, does go together well as is typical with Tamiya kits. And if you are familiar with the old WW2 B&W movies, Bogart ran around the Sahara in a Lee - his LuLu Belle. So yeah, the Lee’s an interesting vehicle!

Thanks for the input! I was buying some paint yesterday and saw it was on sale for $15.75 so I couldn’t pass it up. I’ll put this one together and practice my wash and weathering then take a look at the better kit.

Thanks again,

Mike
