KING KONG PLANES

Hey everyone, I just went to see the new KING KONG movie. WOW really well done and I loved the fact they stayed with the theme of the 1933 film…anyway if anyone has seen itcan you tell me what kind of planes were depicted in that movie? Were they Boeing F4B-4 the wings looked a little swept back was that the way they were?

Thanks!

Woodspider,

They were Curtiss O2C-2 Helldivers, and they were BEAUTIFUL!! Gorgeously rendered airplanes, right down to the Tophatters squadron markings!

Thanks!!! Didnt the Boeing F4B-4s have Tophaters markings also?

Not just rendered: they built two totally accurate non-flying replicas, including the original engines and instruments. One’s going into a new museum with Peter Jackson’s WW1 collection, no-one’s sure what’s happening with the other replica.
