Are there any great differences between the Dragon kit and the Trumpeter kit ? I had heard that the Trumpeter kit has a semi-circular turntable, while the older Dragon kit has a straight section of track.

They’re both good kits. The Dragon kit is only about 2/3 the price of the Trumpeter, and comes with crew figures. The Trumpeter kit has many more pieces, is better-detailed, and has a circle of track, while the Dragon only has a short length of straight track.
1/35 railway track is not easy to come by, and both Trumpeter and Draon do sets of crew figures which are available separately. If I had the display space, I’d buy the Trumpeter.

trump kit had about twice as many sink holes.
Man it is one huge kit!(The tiger is 1/35)
