Just tried out the Badger Patriot 105....finally!

I just tried out the Badger Patriot 105 a while ago and if I had to sum it up in one word it would be “awesome!” This is a great airbrush guys! I have always liked the Anthem 155 but being it is a siphon-feed airbrush I didn’t care to use it as much for modeling as I prefer a gravity-feed airbrush for this hobby. Well, Ken and his staff have produced another winner in my opinion.

Well balanced, fit and finish are fantastic and the spray pattern is great. Thin lines to heavier coverage, this airbrush does it all. I am predicting this may very well become a modeler’s favorite airbrush in the coming months. I highly recommend it and I think it may soon become my favorite all around airbrush which my Omni 4000 used to hold the title of. We shall see.

To those of you looking for a gravity-feed, double-action airbrush, I highly recommend that you look into the Patriot 105 as it is excellent!

I have also tried the Patriot, and agree with Mike that it is a really nice brush. I’ve added a page about it on my website. You can see it here.

Don

I was thinking about getting a 100LG to replace my Iwata HP-CS. I like my Iawata but I really like my 155. I like the trigger feel and a few other things more.

Would this brush be good for me?

off to badgers website

Edit: after a quick google I see that the 105 is simply a gravity 155. Might have to get one of those.

Edit Edit: here’s a great review I found:p

Yes Max that is my good friend Jon’s review. He loves that airbrush as well.

The MSRP is supposed to be lower than the 100LG according to Don Wheeler. But no one seems to have it in stock. A few offers on Ebay ask for near full MSRP.

Anyway to buy one at or below the 3155 Hybrid street price? (The 3155 is $70.69 at Chicago AB Supply.)

No, I am not giving up the HP-CS. I sure like to compare first hand the difference in feel between an Iwata and a Badger.

Go to this site as Ken has offered 40% off for members of Matt Swann’s forum and I am sure if you mentioned me he would honor that as well.

I used a similar deal that Ken provided on another forum - $82 shipped to my door. According to UPS tracking, it should be arriving today! I’m really excited to try this out.

Glad to see that you think highly of this airbrush, Mike. Guess I made a good choice! [:D]

Kev

Awesome Kevin! I am sure you will be pleased Marine. Oorah! [:D]

Thank you, Mike. Everything worked and I should have the Patriot 105 sometime next week, I hope.

After I put the AB and a spare fine needle in the shopping cart, I went to check out where I typed in the discount code from the Swanny site (swannysbud). It worked.

From Don Wheeler’s web, the 105 should come with the 0.5 mm fine needle and tip. The Iwata HP-CS works better with Enamal than Acrylic. I suspect that the 0.35 nozzle is a factor. I will see how the Patriot’s larger nozzle compared to the CS when using Acrylic. It may be a while before I can report back on my comparison.

Sounds good Kei Lau. I didn’t have any problems spraying Tamiya acrylics with the HP-CS that I had. Interesting.

I wouldn’t call it a problem of the CS. I just have to thin the acrylic more than I would prefer to avoid tip dry. It means more passes to get the solid coverage. The atomization is excellent. I hope that I won’t have to re-learn the feel of the trigger when switching between this 2 AB’s.

To tell you thr truth I think the Patriot’s trigger is every bit as smooth as the HP-CS trigger.

With a little Needle lube you won’t really see a difference IMHO.

Kev,

I ordered a Patriot last Thursday and have not received any email acknowledgement from them yet. The Paypal email arrived promptly and showed payment made the same day. How did you get the tracking information from them? How long did it take to process the online order?

Here are the answers to my own questions about the service of webairbrush.com.

Pros:

  1. Great price with the coupon code at Swanny’s.

  2. Relative quick shipment. Ordered 10/15. Shipped 10/19. Received 10/20 by UPS. (Total 4 calendar days IL to MO)

  3. Email enquiry about order status was answered by email the same day on 10/20.

Cons:

  1. Ordering web site hard to put more than one item into the same basket ever after signon. (I have to use a back arrow trick to do it.)

  2. $12 shipping to next state is expensive for the light weight (2 lb) package.

  3. Online “order status” page has NO shipping date or tracking information. (Shipping notice email and tracking info arrived AFTER the package. The notice email should have worked ok for longer delivery time.)

Interesting Note: The package was shipped from Badger in Franklin Park directly.

Verdict: webairbrush.com is recommended if you want a Badger product.

Keilau,

Correction, it’s webairbrushes.com not webairbrush.com [;)]

Badger may have drop shipped your order.

On another note Badger products are alive and well again at Dixie art if you want to there as well.

Just bit the bullet and ordered the Patriot. I’m sure that I’ll love it as I’m a big fan of the Anthem. I may even try some free hand camo with this.
