Just saw a GIANT of a kit!!!

I was at my LHS here in Brno yesterday and my eyes drifted up to the big kits on the top shelf, you know the type you need to knock out a wall in your house to accomodate.

Anyway, there’s this big MPM box with a picture of a Messerschmit 363 transport on it. I thought it must be 1/72, but a second look showed 1/48!!

The place was too busy for the guy to get the kit down for me to look at, but he says its an older MPM Vac form kit.

I can only imagine how big that sucker’s gotta be in 1/48!

Sounds like a couple I have. The 1/48 Monogram B-29 box is pretty big, but the 1/48 B-1B Lancer box is outrageous (don’t have this one yet…my wife and I need to get a bigger house first!).

Of course, I just acquired the old 1/48 Testors AC-130A Spectre Gunship and the box is about 4’ long and about 1.5’ wide. I have it stuffed in front of all my other kits on my stash shelf in the garage…only way it’ll fit. [:D]

Can’t wait to build it up…of course, I’m hanging it, but still…I’ve only got so much ceiling space. [V]

The guys at my LHS have a 1/48 TU-22M Backfire, which is about the same size of the Monogram B-1B, sweeping wings and all. I’ve seen them parked together in many of my town’s contests and shows. But Guys! Just looking at the landing gear on that thing! The way it sits is amazing. I don’t know if you understand me, but I’ve seen real aircraft sitting on the tarmac and they don’t look as heavy!

Squadron carries that model. Every once in a while they knock another $100 US off the price trying to get somebody to buy it.

i have 2 b1b bombers, and an ac130u gunship, 2 b-29’s in 1/48, and in 1/72 i have xb70 a valkrie, rc 135, nkc 135, awacs. i am wanting to get the c-5 in 1/72 and the military 747 also. of course all these models are in boxes as i have no place to put them yet.

I have a Italeri 1/48 DC-130A with the Firebee drones on it I need to build. Never mind the B-1B in 1/48 that I am going to put on a custom stand for the ‘in flight’ look. I love the huge scale stuff!!! You can just pack them with detail and not go blind doing it.

i’m sorry but if I have to build a seperate building to store it in, I might as well build a hanger and keep a 1 to 1 scale PA 18-150 Super Cub in it. lol
