Hi.
Just got back into modelling after about 18 years of not modelling. I have never finished a model to this day that I was happy with until this one. I used all the resources and hints found on this forum and other Internet articles to learn the new skills I needed to build this plane.
The kit is the ‘old mold’ 1/48 Hasegawa Kawanishi N1K2-J ‘George’. The decals are by Yellowhammer, but only because I lost the kit decals somewhere along the line. 
I realize that the plane should be green over NMF, but the Hasegawa instructions say green over gray, so there it is. I replaced the kit cannons with brass tubing, I think next time I’ll invest in hypo tubing, the brass tube sems a bit heavy for the scale.
The weathering was done with pastels, art pencils, and Tamiya acrylic flat aluminum.
I have found that I really don’t mind building kits with panel lines. Its nothing that some black electrical tape and a needle captured in an old X-acto knife can’t fix.
I have another ‘old mold’ Hasegawa kit coming off the building board. Its the 1/48 F4U4 Corsair, its going to be my first airbrushed project, wish me luck!
