Just-finished Fw 190

If you were here, you could smell the flat coat – I just finished it this weekend.

It’s Tamiya’s 1/48 scale F-8 in field-applied camo (hence the overspray on the ID band and fuselage markings).

It’s basically straight from the box, but I did replace the gun barrels with hypodermic tubing.

Hope you like it!

Nice clean build there Matt, I love the camo. It kind of reminds me of some of my bass fishing lures. Frog finish Zara Spook. Anyway, that’s a very nice looking model. Thank’s for the look.

Jerry

Nice build Matt, I like the camo scheme on this one, looks good!

Darren.

Nice Butcher Bird Matt, the paint is a nice change from RLM 74/75/76.

beauty. did you freehand or mask the cammo?

joe

That looks excellent, I especially like the desert camo!
Good job!

Looks nifty, Matt.[tup] It’s a different look from the run of the mill FW190. What’s the theatre, North Africa? Are you going to post some more detailed photos, or will we see it in an upcoming FSM issue?

Andy

[#ditto][#ditto] one pic? That just whetts the appetite!

Beautiful job on the 190.

Very nice. THe 190 is one of my favorite warbird. THanks for sharing.

Very nice build Matt

Superb build, Matt!
When can we see more?

Looks really good, I ordered a Tri-Master Fw 190 from Squadron. I read on here that the Tri-master kits are pretty good.

Looks good matt, anymore pics to show us?

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone! Here’s a topside view.

If I understand correctly, they used Italian paint for the field application, and painted out the upper markings and ID band to keep the planes from getting strafed on the ground. The colors are close to RLM 78, 79, and 80.

It’s a semi-freehand scheme. I painted it with an entry-level single-action airbrush, but I sprayed on the green by shooting through holes I punched in index cards. Freehand soft masking, I guess. It’s for a camouflaging story for one of our fall issues.

I hope you like it!

Looking forward to the article. Thanks for the top view. Nice work.
