Cut her at the waterline then added a arcylic sea. I rusted her up a bit as she is just returning from convoy duty and her battle with U-66.
Nice looking ship
Keep it up!
That’s a great job. My favorite ship to model are destroyers & then crusiers
Where can one find these models? It seems with no offence to anyone that mostly
what’s available are battleships or carriers
i gotta ask .where did you get it ???i haven,t been able to find one for years . tankerbuilder
Dude…where did you dig this old thread up from? You haven’t been able to find one for years because this thread is 6 years old…
Manny, you’re killin’ me…
hey manstein . now you know how out touch I feel in TEXAS . I didn,t even look at the date i,ve wanted one of these babies for that long . Once in a while I hear where I might find one and it,s gone . We just don,t seem to be able to get caught up in cowboy country . tankerman
LOL…just ribbin’ ya…I actuallu built one in the late 80’s and wish I could find another one—cool model…
Nice job, 7793.
I confess I have a big soft spot for this kit. Yes, it’s old. (So am I, it seems. I remember when it was originally released. Ouch.) Yes, the guns are awful. Yes, the railing stanchions are out of scale. (But how many kits of that vintage had individual rail stanchions at all?)
On the other hand, the basic shapes are right. And take a look at the detail on the vertical surfaces, like the superstructure bulkheads. The bulkheads are separate pieces, and they include such things as fire extinguishers, coiled hoses, electrical cables - even a rack full of decks swabs, all molded neatly in relief. And those mysterious round bumps molded into one of the 3" gun tub shields are, I think, the helmets for the gun crew.
This kit quite obviously was designed by people who (a) knew what they were doing, and (b) were interested in something other than meeting the minimum standards of the typical purchaser. Those people were artisans, and the kit, in my opinion, has a strong claim to being considered a work of art. I, for one, would be happy to see it on the market again - and I’d love to dress it up with the set of photo-etched parts Gold Medal Models offers for it.
Hey Manstein R. You know that I think the BUCKLEY and CAMPBELLTOWN were two of REVELL,S best ship models . There was just so much you could detail back then . The best part of that was you didn,t need a magnifier to work on them . I had done conversions on both back in the 70s and I wish I hadn,t . If I find any more anywhere i will let you know TANKERBUILDER
For anyone interested, there are two current listings on Ebay for this kit; one has a “Buy It Now” price of $50.00 while the other auction is up in 5 days.

Save your Ebay money unless you want the old “collectible” Campbeltown… its been re-released by Revell, part of their “Classics” series. About 20 USD on sale on some online stores. I know Im getting one Not sure about the Buckley, but for us hobby returnees the re-release of the old Revell classics has been a nostalgia trip… Saturn V is next!
I am referring to the USS Buckley kit by Revell.
Bill Morrison
Yes, sorry about that, got the thread 'logic train" mangled I do hope the Buckley is in the “Classics” pipeline…
No problem! I just wanted my comment to be clear so that anybody could have a shot at the Buckley kit. I also agree with you . . . I hope that Revell re-releases this ship (as I do with all their other DD kits!)

Hey Manstein !!! Did you know that this model converts to a great radar picket ship! The little jewel also makes a great L.P.R. and a great (don,t laugh) conversion to a 50 s era onassis type megayacht !! I want to do her as the BUCKLEY with the p.e. on it . Did you know that aftetr ww2 some of the four stackers were converted to inter-island passenger and freight ships .That is why I want the CAMPBELLTOWN too . I like to do one as it served and as a conversion or two . tankerbuilder
…50’s era yacht? Are you for real?
