Holy crap…my heart missed a beat when I received my RevellGermany 1/144 Antonov AN-124 “Ruslan” today. I could not believe how big this aircraft was in scale. I saw the AN-124 several years ago at Gander International Airport but it was parked far out on the ramp with nothing close to compare it to the scale.
After opening the box, I thought “I really need to upload some photos of this to the Forum”. See below and note the can of Coke for comparison:
Just get a load of the decal sheet…apparently there are six different liveries on the sheet…
Once complete, this beast IN 1/144 SCALE will measure 47.8cm long by 50.7cm wide (18.8" x 19.9"). I would love to hear if anyone else has one of these in the “to-do” pile or if you are currently building one!
Thanks for the input. Ted’s article is especially going to be helpful. Pandeiro wonders if this model will be built soon…of course it will…in my vivid imagination and dreams…LOL These I tend to buy more kits than I build and my shelf is getting pretty full. Albeit, I cannot wait to start…sometime! RODC
Isn’t it always the case. I have so many kits that I open from time to time so that I can lovingly look at and caress the contents of the plastic bag. Recently I opened the large boxes containing many of my kits and scattered them on the floor so that I could look at them. I then wonder what finish I will build them in. The decal sheets, camouflage, engine bay open or closed, to super detail or not…
Now I must admit to a certain hesitation before placing them all back into the large storage boxes that hold them…
I had the same reaction when I got my An-124. Now I have assembled the fuselage, the wings and the engines but messed up with the painting. I am in the process of stripping the paint. I might post pictures of my disaster. The kit itself is great, no complaints there.
