Arrived today, already read cover to cover and enjoyed all the articles. Sorry to hear others are still waiting for their issue, the mail works in mysterious ways. It is only a 5 hour flight across Canada yet a letter takes a week or more? The review of WnW Salmson 2-A2 was good but the online version for subscribers best yet! Do check out the wood grain tutorial. Larry Schramm has me sold on a Italeri F-104 in glorious 1/32 scale. The NMF markings suit this Canuck just fine. Aaron Skinner’s airbrush review was a nice change. Looking forward to purchasing one in the future and the XGi looks like a good choice. The ‘Pregnant Guppy’ article was a nice read on advanced techniques, must say the results Jeff Thomsen produces speak for themselves. Bill Plunk has a very methodical approach to painting German WWII armour. The end products look great and his Bronco Marder II build is like a kit review as well. Proven techniques with predictable results. In New Products I see a few Takom kits, anyone have experience with these? The CDN Leopard C2 will be popular up north providing its a good kit. Really like the 109 nightfighter. Sad it wasn’t a article with WIP’s. Marc Roccas weathered brass WWI gas tank was a great tutorial on technique! Correction in Reader’s Gallery The gnarly Slingerland drum set: Last sentence should read ‘Hipcats, NOT Hepcats’ Groovy issue dudes!
Haven’t seen it. Not even in any of the Hobby Shops. I know some people are getting irritated. Maybe a bit too irritated but I have to say this is getting kinda ridiculous all this inconsistency. Looking forward to seeing it.
Like I said its a mail issue, sometimes a letter across town takes longer than across the country!
Tried a few times to break my post up into paragraphs, not sure why I can’t?
Does seem a bit odd, I got mine last week, and that’s in the UK. I would guess all subscriptions are posted at the same time, so it has to be a mail issue, but I do usually get mine a good few days up to a week before you guys in the States.
Hi Suppression!
Thanks for the review. With regard to hepcat, it’s a reference to jazz and beatnik subculture.
Regards,
Tim
Was hoping to get mine in the mail today but it didn’t happen! Interesting how Canada and the UK got their copies and I’m in Florida and still waiting to get mine.
Thanks Tim!
Really enjoyed the issue, hope the guys State side will soon as well.
The online expanded review of the WnW kit is great, hope to see more ‘extras’ like that in the future.
On another note I submitted a article titled ‘Thin Ice’ that was accepted for publication about 3 years ago. Wondering if I missed that issue, last winters Sherman invasion of articles or its still on the back-burners? It would be far out to see it published, even will buy 10 issues to send to hip cats I know!
SP
Don’t hold your breath on your articles. I had 6 purchased by FSM over the last 5 years and so far only 2 have been in the issues. I guess they buy them and store them for publication down the line as they see it fit.
I picture the warehouse on the last scene of Raider’s of the Lost Arc, articles boxed away for eternity!
Guess the editorial staff are like us modellers that stash away kits (articles) like squirrels getting ready for winter.
Finally mine came in!
Indeed that seems to be the case. However, most model mags pay upon publication- or several months after. Kalmbach pays on acceptance, which is nice.
Yes the cheque cleared upon acceptance Don!
Great article in the helicopter BTW, some great tips on construction, research and painting.
