Ju 52 Survives the Snake Bite

[:)] Last week I posted regarding how my latest project has apparently been snake bit. I’ve managed to finish and here are pictures.

It’s the Pro-Modeler 1/48 Ju 52/3mg7e representing 2.Staffel, KGzbV 1 operating out of Milos, Greece in 1941. I figured this bird would be a work horse so I took some liberties with a mixture of brown & black pastels and tried to represent dirt streaks along the underside.

Sorry…red x’s

Same here, all red Xs. And I’d really like to see this build, I have one on the shelf and am thinking about doing it next.

No red x’s here just a nice looking JU-52. Great job. Were there any dificult areas when building? I have the same kit on my shelf and was thinking of starting it soon.

Sorry, mate…
All little red x’s…

That’s a nice looking Ju  What did you mean by snake-bit?

QT

Right click on the red X, copy the address and open in new window for at least one image then you should be able to click on each thumbnail and see the pic. A nice build but I also wonder what you mean by snake bite.

I don’t know what’s going on with all the red x’s. The pictures show up in my browser.

My reference to “snake-bit” was all the difficulties I encountered while building this kit. I managed to ruin some of the windows while using Ambroid EZ Mask - I couldn’t get the stuff off as I’ve been able to with past builds, so I went against my better instincts and used acetone to dissolve it and ended up with fogged windows along the port side. I dropped it once and had to repair some minor damage. I had some paint bleed-through. It seemed like nearly everything that could go wrong with this build did go wrong, but I was able to rescue it.

The biggest difficulty with this kit was putting together the fuselage. The two sides are flimsy, but once you get the interior bulkheads installed, that takes care of the flimsiness. The top attached easily but the bottom was a tight fit, and I didn’t get it on there exactly right. Required some filler. I recommend test fitting everything before using any glue.

Despite my difficulties with this kit, I am satisfied with the final outcome and think it looks just fine hanging alongside my other Luftwaffe aircraft.

Hello Aggieman…was wondering if you had a problem with the dihedral (sp?) of the wings? In an article I found on the web, there was a report that one of the sides had to be shimmed with styrene to ensure both wings were even with each other and the ground (bench, etc).

Trafford,

I didn’t encounter any particularly noticable problems with the dihedral, but that could be good luck on my part. [:)] On the other hand, I didn’t measure it out to any degree of exactness either, so for all I know the dihedral could be off a bit from one wing to the other.

I’d love to see this build, but I’m getting red X’s instead. Sorry!

Great look JU 52. The weathering is perfect. Not too overdone but enough to show hard usage. I didn’t even notice the frosted windows until you mentioned it.

For the red x’s, try Swanny’s suggestion, or here are the direct links …

Man…I’m sorry Aggieman, I’ve tried everything. I really want to see your pics 'cause I built one last year. I’m a real Ju52 fan. Anyhoo, I’m not exactly a computer genius, but here’s what I’m getting no mater what I do.

Any ideas as to how I can see these pics? I tried what Swanny suggested, but same thing.
