Well, one fuselage anyway. The warmer weather this last week allowed me to crack out the airbrush and get some piant on the left fuselage of this monster. And here it is.
As was said before, this is a maritime anti-shipping night scheme of a base RLM 70/71 “splinter” oversprayed with RLM 65 “wave mirror”/scribble. The undersides are flat black. About 98% of the decals for this fuselage are on, the only exceptions being some real tiny placards. The antenna wire is actually a bit unique- it’s human hair. (Not mine- having a little sister has some benefits. [:P]) Odd, but it works!
This fuselage was almost completely OOB. The most challenging part of it (other than getting the airbrush to work) was most likely all the clear parts (masked with liquid mask). It turned out well, though, I think. (The windscreen and tail position were done seperately and pianted by hand.)
The other fuselage needs a bit of wiring and then it’s ready for the paintshop, and the wings are in the process of receiving their electric motors. Three are in, and they work! I’m still waiting on a replacement prop shaft for one engine, though, so it might still be a while before everything can come together.
I hope everyone likes this update. I’m actually taking requests for any detail shots (tail, waist guns, interior, etc.) anyone wants of this. Just post any requests here. Until later! [:D][tup]
Had me worried there. thought you were done the whole thing, too bad you didn’t post this on April Fool’s day. The fuselage looks great though [tup] can’t wait to see it all together.
Lucien I had just joined here when you started that monster. Its taking shape beautifully. I had my doubts but you shut them right up now. Just a great piece of modeling there. Hope when the wings get fitted you dont have a seam there… that would be a bummer.

woodbeck3- The way this kit is laid out is awesome. Almost 90% of all seams are on real panel lines, including the entire wing-to-fuselage joint. Becuase of the size of this monster I was wisely advised to paint and decal it in parts. Thankfully there’s no camo on the seam anywhere, just a couple of flat black (eventual) touchups.
Work on the wings progresses, mainly the motors, but is temporarily halted due to a lack of supplies. (You run out of superglue at the most inopportune times…) The other fuselage just needs some masking for me to begin it.
I’ll see if I can get some detail pics this week. I’m thinkin’ the tail and waist guns maybe. We’ll see.
OkeeDokee, here’s a couple of detail shots of this fuselage-

Here’s a so-so shot of the waist and rear upper turret position. Following it’s “history” both waist windows are cut out to illustrate it’s prior history of being two seperate aircraft welded together later. (It’s all bull, but it sounds good.) One of the windows fell out, something I need to fix. The decals didn’t go down too nice either, but it’s nothing a bit of paint can’t fix, either.

Here’s the tail cone. The frames were hand painted (easier than masking, I think). The gun may look a little weird, but that’s because it broke off a couple times. Interesting story- that gun is actually for the gondola, but I figured it out too late, so I just went with it.
If anyone wants to see any specific areas, by all means go ahead and let me know. [;)]
