Hello, now I am relaxing with this great kit from Tamyia. Only few PE parts from Eduard were used. I´m having lots to do with the equipment, but it will make my Jeep look better.
Looks like a cool, clean build, Petr…you’re going to dirty it up a bit aren’t you? A jeep was made for offroading! [swg]
Looking good Petr. Nice color and wood grain effect on the Garand too. What color did you use?
Be sure I will use all weathering tricks, at this stage it is only in colour and decals!
My wooden surface trick: 1.Humbrol 110 (or some lighter brown colour) 2.oil Raw umber with smallest brush - try to make tiny lines. 3.After few minutes take bigger brush and flick it slightly in the way of the lines of wood. Sometimes if you have patience and “good hand” step 3 is not necessary!
Thanks Petr. That color is almost an exact match of the Garand I have in the gun rack. Also, what accessory kit are you using, or are they just a mix of bits from the stash box?
Oh that is nice surprice with that accurate colour, didn´t even expect… Accessories are mostly from Tamiya set and Dragon figures 6271 “Advance to Rhine”
Great work! One thing you might want to change is I’m almost 100% sure that wartime Willys MB Jeeps did not have the windshield wiper motors (these were postwar modifications). They were just manually operated. Also, if not too much trouble, I think the missing rivets on the handles stand out as well.
Here’s one I worked on last year:
Regardless, best of luck to you and keep up the good work!
Jeep looks good. Are you going to display as a WWII or post WWII? M1 Carbine that you posted has a bayonet lug, which was the post WWII add on to the rifle.
…very nice…when are we gonna see some more of that awesome dio you have been working on???
…btw, here is a Tamiya Jeep I built last year for a BOB dio:
lovely jeep, I’ll build one next time…
Hello everybody, thanks for comments! I didn´t know that with wind shield wipers motors ( I will cover them with some accessories) and also that bayonet lug on the rifle - this comes from Dragon US 1945 figure from Remagen, so it is bad mistake from them!
Thanks for nice pictures of built Jeeps, although it was wery common wehicle, it is dificult to find some well built models on the web. Those You´ve placed here are realy nice inspiration!
Mr.Manstein, I will continue on that diorama with small panzer III etc. after this Jeep. I had some troubles with decals and paint, but now I have got new energy to continue and re-do some disaster and push this project toward some sufficient finish.
Small progress - what do you think about that box fitted with chain ?? [;)]
Accessories and equipment in the interior…filters, wash, pigments etc.will follow…
Very, very nice Petr. I like all the details. The box with the chains on the bumper look nice but you should find a way to secure the chain on the bumper. It must be attached properly.
Very good notice Yann ! This is allready repaired with screw+bolt on one side and wire on another [;)]
I think you might want to secure the ends of the chain as well. The noise it would produce would drive me nuts. Think about if you had to do it to your own vehicle. Also you might want to remove the German holster. It would have been a highly sought after item and quickly nipped by any passersby. The GI owner of that would have it hidden away nicely. Just a thought.
Finally, you should extend the khaki coloring of the seatback cloth to the strips over the framework. See here:
…looks good…some good advice already given…still need some dirt on it…
…although I am not much of an Allied armor fan, I must say that building the Jeep for my BOB vignette was a truly pleasant experience…beautiful kit by Tamiya that fell together; they still excell at some things…I liked it so much that I will probably build some more for future dios…
…plenty of field mods you can do to it as well: I added a 30 cal pintle to the passneger side and a bustle rack for fuel cans on the rear of mine…
Such a small nice model and so many things that can go wrong [BH] [banghead]
OK guys thank You for good advices how improve it, I hope You will like it. I will show You my Jeep then at final stage after adding filters, washes, dirt etc…
Yes, this kit is realy pleasure to build Mr.Manstein and I like also Your BOB version and nice figures!
…cool, can’t wait till you get back on your dio…it was looking awesome…
I should do a willy jeep, I only have two, one my brother gave me, another one 1/72 fir a B-24 dio.
Your looks fantastique.
