JB Models

Since it has become the norm to post threads about the latest places we have done business with, either to warn our fellow modelers away or encourage them to shop, I wanted to throw out a personal story:

Last week I purchased a couple of items from JB Model, a small aftermarket company in Austria. I was curious about how long shipping would take, so I only ordered a couple things - the metal barrel for the 20 mm cannon on the Schutzenpanzer I am working on and some chain.

Two things jumped out at me right away - first was the price. It was pretty darn reasonable. Heck, I’d even go so far as to say it was cheap.

The second thing was that I immediately started getting e-mails to let me know my order was received, that my order was being processed, that my order was ready for delivery, that my order had been shipped.

And then, the cherry on the cake, I got my package from Austria in less than a week (I believe shipping to doorstep was actually 5 days).

Now here is the thing - the barrel got a little banged up in shipping. I sent an e-mail to JB and, again, within an hour had a reply that they were packing up another one, with additional protection, and shipping it out that day.

So, I know it was a small order, and I’ve done several small orders with JB over that last year or so, but I’ve got to say, this guy (his name is Jerzy) has the customer service thing down. We see so many threads in here about orders being placed and time passing and e-mails being sent and no response being received. From what I have seen, JB Models is just the opposite.

The moral of my story - if you are in the market for aftermarket doo-dads (mostly barrels, but plenty of other stuff as well), give JB Model a look. I’m already putting together a larger order to send him.

bbrowniii,

Thanks for the reference. I just ordered a main barrel for a late model Tiger I and the three cannon barrels for a Ta 152H-1. When they arrive I will post an additional reference if warranted.

Jerzy is great guy to do business with. I have been ordering add-ons from him for about a year and service is always excellent and extremely fast. I once complained that some 1/350th ship railings got bent in the mail. I suggested using thicker cardboard in the packages. He followed up on the suggestion and even offered to send replacement railings. A big [Y] for JB models as far as I am concerned.

Doh, butter fingers double mails again [:S]

I have seen there add on PMMS but never used them as i can get RB Model barrels from the UK at about the same price. Nice to here not everything in Europe is more expensive than in the US. Can you not get RB Model/Armourscale barrels in the USA.

maybe they should put in another section were we can good/bad service from shops and companies, or would that cause a problem for FSM.

Have to concur on the [Y] [Y] regarding JB Models. I use them regularly myself for all sorts of AM items and have always had a very positive and fast response from them.

Thanks for the link Boyd. I’ll give them a try next time I need something.

Nate

TankRat carries RB Models barrels just the barrels for armor and nothing else. I got a metal barrel for a 1/35 scale T-72 and some barrels for a StugIV from him.

bbrownii,

Thank you for the heads up on the link. I’ll have to wander over to their site and have a gander.

Cheers
