Since it has become the norm to post threads about the latest places we have done business with, either to warn our fellow modelers away or encourage them to shop, I wanted to throw out a personal story:
Last week I purchased a couple of items from JB Model, a small aftermarket company in Austria. I was curious about how long shipping would take, so I only ordered a couple things - the metal barrel for the 20 mm cannon on the Schutzenpanzer I am working on and some chain.
Two things jumped out at me right away - first was the price. It was pretty darn reasonable. Heck, I’d even go so far as to say it was cheap.
The second thing was that I immediately started getting e-mails to let me know my order was received, that my order was being processed, that my order was ready for delivery, that my order had been shipped.
And then, the cherry on the cake, I got my package from Austria in less than a week (I believe shipping to doorstep was actually 5 days).
Now here is the thing - the barrel got a little banged up in shipping. I sent an e-mail to JB and, again, within an hour had a reply that they were packing up another one, with additional protection, and shipping it out that day.
So, I know it was a small order, and I’ve done several small orders with JB over that last year or so, but I’ve got to say, this guy (his name is Jerzy) has the customer service thing down. We see so many threads in here about orders being placed and time passing and e-mails being sent and no response being received. From what I have seen, JB Models is just the opposite.
The moral of my story - if you are in the market for aftermarket doo-dads (mostly barrels, but plenty of other stuff as well), give JB Model a look. I’m already putting together a larger order to send him.
