Japanese GB 2011-2012

Wow, did I miss you somewhere in there David???

Beautiful work! Love the weathered green wings and the red and yellow tail!

Updating the front page now.

No, you didn’t miss me, I just forgot to post it when I finished way back when. I think I got distracted with other model projects and forgot to take any pictures of it.

Ah, ok, well, you’re on the front page now, again- sharp work!

Yes indeed great looking build David!

Bsyamato love that scratch work Amigo!

Excellent Val David [t$t]

Lots of update on the judy, i used the NOS!

After a priming of lots of pieces in matt black used the usual mix of 78 green with a pale yellow for the inner cockpit, also other pieces painted

the finished IP and the gun

after the only white and gunmetal drybrushing gluing and closing all!!

scratchbuilded last(?) piece, the structure between the two cockpits

engine… just silver drybrush

all main peces on

actually canopy glued too but not take picture, now just waiting to sand’n’putty [hdphns]

Nice Bsyamato, she’s coming right along! At this rate you won’t have any problems being done by the end of the year. [t$t]

i hope [proplr] just sanding hard to prepare for paints !

Looking good BSY… To cut way down on sanding time, I like take some acetone (finger nail polish remover) and dip a Q-tip into it and work the fresh putty with it. Careful though, too much acetone will soften and damage plastic and panel lines and rivets. It will smooth the putty really nicely and leave just a minimum ammount of sanding to do. I also like to use a scotch brite cloth to do the required buffing and clean up of any putty.

Hey guys, I’ve been a drop out since early June. I have kept in touch with some trolling, but sadly not any thing to contribute. I had started a Mitsubishi Ki-46 III Dinah, but my wife pushed hard for a chicken coup, changing my building plans for the summer. I would have procrastinated the coup idea, but she all of a sudden set up a brooder house in our dining room with 7 chicks. Well, I got to work and built a home for the soon to be egg layers. We’re starting to get a few eggs now, and my wife is very happy. So, here’s my 1 to 1 scale model. It really was fun.

Well the good news is that I was able to get moving on the Dinah around Thanksgiving. I didn’t get many wip photos, but I’d like to share some pics of the finished product.

Before I affixed the landing gear, I took some in flight shots. I Photoshopped out the stand, but couldn’t spin the props.

Gamera, I’m happy to sneak this one in under the wire. I can’t give you a specific, but I’m looking forward to joining in on the 2013 version of this thread. This has been a great group to watch and participate with. Thanks, Rick.

Rick: Wow, that’s like the Chicken Hilton! One of my uncles used to have a chicken coop and it was just an old wooden shack with a chicken wire yard out in front - that’s nice!

And the Dinah looks great too, really nice work! Love the in flight shots! I’d love to have you in Part II if you can make it, remember it’s a whole year this time, no extensions or that jazz, so you’ve got plenty of time.

Just posted her to the roster. Seems I missed it somewhere but what scale and company is the Dinah if you would please?

Sorry for the omission. It’s the 1/48 Tamiya kit. I marked it up as a bird from Shinbu Sakura Suicide Attack Unit, Kanoya Air Base, Kagoshima Prefecture, May 1945. Thanks, Rick

Another great Dinah!! well done Wabashwheels [t$t]

Thanks! Figured she was but wasn’t sure.
